What types of music do we gravitate towards?

Well since there's no industrial metal or folk metal in the choices, I'll choose other. :p
I'm a hopelessly obsessed Rammstein fan so I listen to them mostly. I listen to a lot of other Neue Deutsche Härte bands and German bands as well, folk metal (plain Celtic too sometimes), and some softer metal/hard rock. I can't stand metal with constant drone-like screaming or extremely fast-paced guitar/drum work (black metal, death metal). I need good rhythm in whatever I listen to and much of my music has characteristically obvious rhythm to it. I'm also not a big fan of classic rock...Slayer's probably the earliest stuff I like besides the occasional older song.
I've also been getting into instrumental (especially focused on strings) music and industrial lately, and I like a bunch of random foreign music. And of course there are always songs I have no idea why I like because they don't fit with my other musical tastes (prime example - Bad Romance, Lady Gaga. The rhythm compels me!). I think I'll start looking into symphonic metal too because the little I've heard has been amazing.

Personally for me, I gravitate towards electronic, ambient, trip-hop, metal, rock, IDM and d&b. Just something that I'd like to add though, for what it's worth - I've found that when I used to listen to loads of angsty music (from Marilyn Manson to NIN, which I still do but not excessive amounts), i would be compelled to exaggerate my moods/feelings and get stuck in them...
I don't know if it's an INTP thing or a quirk of mine but yeah, it leads to loads of nonproductive hours, overwhelming thoughts and feelings arising from things that would do me good to have left behind. Mostly, it's because of fhe lyrics - giving a sort of hint to your self as to how you should feel/react towards the music. Just a thought, that's all. But yeah, it's always good fun once in awhile, to absorb these arising emotions driven from listening to these kinds of music.

Then there's the kind that has a calming effect on me, ambient stuff like The Cinematic Orchestra or when I want to get into "the zone" and get work done, psytrance works wonders. Tired and wanting to drift into sleep? Boards of Canada! All in all, I'd say that i gravitate towards a wide range of music and perhaps it'll get even wider with time. Two years ago, I'd have scoffed and said that I ONLY listen to rock and metal but well, we all grow up sometime. :)

I can't really say what genres of music I prefer. My musical choices are usually not based on genre, but on harmony, tempo, complexity, articulations, quality of production...

It's pretty common for people to tell me "Wow, I didn't expect you to like something like this..." because at times it would appear as I'm listening only to chill-out music, other times trance, other times soundtracks, anime music, symphonies, piano only, dubstep, rock, and others...

Edit: It does usually depend on the mood I'm in.

I like lots of different types of music. Most of the stuff I've been listening to lately is rock (in general), classic rock, metal, and some alternative rock. I listen to hardstyle and some trance also. Then there are a few pop, rap, and hip-hop songs that I find catchy.

I like most of my music loud.

Though I don't enjoy much of the music we're surrounded by these days, I find most genres to have at least a few good representatives. I've generally been listening to movie soundtracks, folk, ancient and early music, classical, and other forms of orchestral music.

I listen to anything that's not dubstep/mainstream electronic bullshit and country. Most of the time i'm listening to prog rock classic rock and grunge.
