    Female INTPs not so "INTPish"

Aside from a few relatively attractive Youtube representatives of the female INTP demographic, I find that most INTP females I encounter are not in line with the stereotypical INTP personality as most males are. Naturally, a rational-minded, objective, analytical, and consistently anal persona, in my personal experience, is not reflected as much for the female INTP population.

I get the vibe that most INTP females seem to have slightly more developed Ne, although naturally introverted. Witty, calculated and sloppy, most INTP females resemble somewhat of a socially repressed ENTP. Are they incapable of rationale? Well, that would be an insult to ENTPs, but no, INTPs tend to possess a different demeanor and overall appeal -- especially males.

Has anyone noticed that INTP females just aren't exactly as described by MBTI? Perhaps the idealized version of an INTP is in fact, a male, and the theory has it's flaw from smaller control groups and/or bias?

I haven't noticed, but the only confirmed INTP I know IRL is a female.

My immediate response to your post is to say men are more likely to be INTPs than women.

The same could hold true for other types where women dominate, like ESFJ and ISFJ.

Introverts are often unfairly typecast as shut-ins and dorks. I think introverted rational males are more likely to be overtly dorky because dorkiness and social awkwardness are tolerated better, in general, coming from males than from females. Plus there's a whole culture surrounding being an NT male that women are still sort of marginalized in (gaming, graphic novels, etc.)

Would you think this stereotype "represses" females into extroversion?

I know two INTP females who, from the surface, act nothing like INTPs. I would've easily believed them to be extroverted feelers if I hadn't known them better. There's really no questioning their type once you get to know them personally. It shows in the way they speak, in their ideas, opinions, and decisions.

I wouldn't say this applies for all INTP females, as there definitely are stereotypical INTP women out there, but nice point.

Yeah, INTP girls are very attractive. They seem to care a lot about their appearance, a lot of them are vain too. Maybe it's because of the Extraverted Intuition that shows them the advantages of a good physical appearance?

Maybe not extroversion, but ambiversion, for sure. Even worse, if you're female and don't act like an F certain people are going to rain hellfire and brimstone on you at basically any opportunity.

Fair point. This would also imply that MBTI/Jungian frameworks are quite malleable and prone to diversion from the original theory. Such a truth would leave me with the questions such as: Which dichotomies and/or functions are most likely to suffer from societal expectations and/or comformity due to gender, or Why an INTP for that matter would actually adjust to such normalcy, and at what age does this perspective shift focus?

Intuitives for the most part seem to have a keen sense of individuality and autonomous decision making/identity adjustment. Would this "repressive" normalcy generally lead one in a direction with some instability though? Is it due to the instability, or a natural need for fulfillment?

"rational-minded, objective, analytical, and consistently anal persona" Yup, that's pretty much me.

How many INTP females have you ever met, by the way? It's harder to really judge on the internet.

My girlfriend is an INTP, my ex-best friend is an INTP, my ex-ex best friend is an INTP, two people in high school who I was relatively close with were INTPs, another person I send random stupidity text messages to is an INTP (she serves as an entertainment canvas), and my Gr. 10 mathematics teacher is an INTP. Those are all the INTPs who have actually taken the test, scored INTP, and exhibited consistent personas (aside from the female INTPs) with the description of said type. Although my memory fades me, I am certain I've come across countless more INTPs which I associate as people who have challenged my rationale with generally deeper understandings of frameworks who clearly aren't INTJs.

Three of those mentioned are female INTPs, by the way. I've also lurked the internet quite a bit, and have made assumptions based on actual encounters where I'm particularly conflicted between INTP/ENTP, or some INTP with an F lean.

Seriously, the INTP female is less prone to stereotypical INTP than any other type except the INTJ female, which is generally "INFJ-leaning". An ISTP female seems easier to understand, and an ISTJ female seems to exhibit the "manliest" of female types.
    Pavane thanked this post.
