I just read an article about the native group called the Tarahumara who reside in Chihuahua Mexico that are starving due to the droughts ruining their crops. They are eating only a corn based flour because all the other vegetables failed and work is difficult to come by locally. It mentioned how the suicide rate is up. Im not sure if there is a organized charity in the area but its things like this that are a deep concern to me.

    Yes.
Whenever I’m buying a product that has a charity version, I’ll pay extra to buy that. I donate to disaster relief organizations at least once a year and donate even more when there are noteworthy earthquakes and tsunamis. I’ve participated in food drives, painted houses, cleaned public land, and been involved in other charity events. Every so often, I get a tick where I feel compelled to donate to some organization, usually propelled by some article or blog post. Admittedly, I don’t donate thousands, but I donate what I know I can spare.

Specific organizations vary widely, Red Cross has probably received most of my money, and WWF is likely responsible for most 'charity' products I buy.

Why? Because I know what it’s like to be dirt poor, yet still have a place to sleep and my “stuff” (Carlin flashback, oh my!), and imagining not even having those things and the lack of opportunity that presents for people makes my Fi start swinging a bat at my noggin.

This would be the sort of article that would have me scouring the Red Cross page for more specific drives/fundraisers.

Yes. I'm a Christian, but hate going and don't really support organized church type-things. I tithe to Christian charities instead (all checked against charity watch).

I just read that while Chihuahua is in a drought, Tabasco is flooded. Must be a bad cosmic joke

Does the lady at the local strip club count? She said she's trying to pay her way through college. That the money would be going to her college fund. What can I say? - I have a big heart.

I donate to my local Humane Society and to a local help association that provides food and shelter for the human animals too.

I do. I have select charities which I always donate, but I'll also donate to other ones when they come up, especially disaster relief, when I am financially able. I've also done the sponsor a child thing too.

My main organizations are: One, Invisible Children, United Way, and Children International.

I do so because I can. I avoid christian charities because, from research, they spend way too much donated money on their workers and bibles and not on actual aid. Most other organizations require workers to pay their own way, travel and food, to ensure it's not coming out of the donation budget, unless they do it as a full time job.
