actually I here stuff more like " don't be such a robot"
"You're weird."
"You think too much."
The fun ones, though, are when they don't know how to react and just sort of stammer and then walk away.![]()
why aren't you saying something ?
is there something wrong?
why are you angry/sad?
I usually tune out complments, so the only thing I could reply with are the things I find insulting.
Like : "I think you are over thinking it. "
"Why don't you [Inster socialization ritual here] more often?"
I suppose I have heard the compliments a lot, but I usually feel that they are directed at something benign and meaningless.
"Oh! You turned it ON!! You're a genius!!"
There are a couple. Don't laugh at this: "You are so kind/thoughtful"
Not so much what is said....it's the look. Frozen trying to figure it out, can't, then the look of "I can't understand this so therefore you are a freak"
"But everybody likes parties!"
I had a friend in high school who always used to ask "Are you mad at me?" Finally she caught me in a bad mood and I said, "I was not mad at you the first 549 times you asked me. I am not mad at you now. But I promise I will be mad at you if you continue asking me." I didn't hear it so often after that.
I hear things like "stop over analyzing..." & "There he goes again..." all the time. This is typically when I am with people that don't understand me in the first place, and second, that lack the ability to be introspective at all. It is quite comical.
Sometimes, I hear "That was cool" or "How/Why did you do that?". This happens when I am playing music or just do something someone else thought was cool/unusual.
