I love art in a cerebral way. I like to walk through exhibits and try to figure out what the artist wanted to to do with his work. It seams I rather enjoy to analyze stuff rather than appreciate it for what it is. Same goes for movies, I always try to make link/comparison in my head during it's course. I try to predict what will happen next, solve the plot before it unfolds.

I like to think about myself as a creative person. Of course, I'm not a P kind of creative person but sometimes I get a great idea while doing something else and try to pursue it through "art" (drawing, writing, etc.). I like to draw a bit and stuff. Abstract stuff, real stuff, etc. Music is really not part of my repertoire though. I remember being in primary school trying to learn flute and the teacher would scream at me because she couldn't get why I wasn't able to play it right (early INTJ in the making lol). There was always all kinds of weird noise coming out of it rather than a clear whistling sound. My three brothers play music so I've tried guitar, bass, piano and drum but I equally suck at them all so I've give up on music all together. It seams I always tend to start thinking about stuff rather than focusing on the precise task of playing any instrument. I really can't get to put my fingers at a given place and move them in any order. I don't think I'll ever get, maybe I will try to play something really simple or start singing when I get to the periode where I'll want to develop my S trait but for now why waste time on such stuff if I can put it to better use elsewhere?

Right now I study in business and want to create a company later (or many !), I like to think about all the models I've learned in school and how I could tweak them to express the idea/value I cherish. I think that's pretty much the creative side I will exploit during my life, try to fix companies, make them grow, position them strategically in their market, work on employee condition, manage all the services to make them work together, try to get everyone's life better because work is huge part of any humans life, etc. So yeah, I see entrepreneurship as quite creative task and that's pretty much on what I'd like to focus even though it's more on the cerebral side of creation rather than on the feeling/sensing sides.

Thank you all for your replys, they have proven very interesting and entertaining, not quite what I had expected!

To elaborate on the subject, when it comes to art, how do you approach it? I am very reserved and logical in my approach, which is one of the main reasons I am quite adept at the theory aspect of music. For example, I find it difficult to come up with melodies, but once I have one I like, harmonizing it according to the rules of different time periods comes very natrually, and I usually like the result. Most of my melodies, however, go through the "This is crap" purging I'm sure we're all familliar with .

Your information is invauluable to my personal research, thank you for your time!

My dad used to love playing the guitar. But then me and my brother broke it.

    How do I approach art?

When it comes to music, I get swept away. I get very into it and intensely emotional. It's actually sort of surprising since I'm usually so reserved about things. Also, I don't normally cry. Ever. But for some reason, a perfect heart felt poem or speech can move me to tears. A perfect passage in a book can leave me in tears for hours.

So I suppose that I approach almost everything in the world in a very cold, logical sort of way. Sometimes it seems that it is only through the arts that I am able to let down the walls between me and everyone else and just feel.

But from what I've read here, this doesn't seem to be true for most INTJs. What do you guys think?

That is the case for me too. I'm like emotionally-neutral all the time. I only seam to get emotion either when I'm depressed or when I watch a dramatic movies (or a really well done feel-good movie even though that's not my favorite kind of movie) or listen too extremely happy or sad songs.

I dont easily get emotional during the course of my days, in fact nothing really bothers me. Some people could be making an aweful lot of noise in a public place while I wait for the subway/bus, I'd just be thinking about random stuff while everyone would seam bothered. It's got to be something special touch me deep inside and art seams to do it for me too.

    Architecture

but I love art. I'm obsessed with it. I'm going to school now for architecture. I find myself so fascinated by structures and space. It's obsession. Churches get the most amazing architecture. If I could accomplish anything, it would be to design a church, develop with drawing art/painting. I love imagination. Also the theory behind it all is really fascinating.

I’ve always looked at myself as a creative type. I’m an unofficial game developer dabbling in the arts of drawing, writing, and music among other things. Right now I feel as though I’m a jack of all trades but a master of none. I wonder what it would be like if I focused all of my attention in one area. I’d get a tad bored at some point I imagine. I really enjoy putting them all together!
I try to approach art from a perspective in which there are no rules, however I tend to make up my own guidelines somewhere along the way when things don’t go too well. : )

Since I was born I've taught myself to draw. Don't know where I'd be without it. Recently I graduated with a bachelors in Character Animation to work on movies. My N really tends to come out in the animation as far as telling whether as story will be effectively funny/dramatic/etc or how a movement feels overall. No other medium calms my soul as much as working on art.

The obsession comes from the challenge that their is no formula like in science/math you have to follow your hunches, theres a million possibilities, its different everytime, and theres always new ground to be explored. Only if I'm alone or on rare occassions with people im close with, will I cry or show some form of emotion with art/movies/writing. Although it does happen often with a powerful expression of art. Movies like The Pursuit of Happyness or Good Will Hunting to name a couple, will resonate so deep (farther than anyone else can i think) that all the walls come crumbling down in its elegance.

If I wasnt creative...I wouldnt of graduated. For those struggling and guessing what they are capable of....years ago I could never of guessed this was possible:

Now I know its possible to go past it. (Also posted in the Art Area but thought it would be useful)

I sing (second tenor) in a local choir in my home city.

My crazy dream would be to learn to play drums (jazz,
classic rock, soft rock--but I wouldn't even bother with
    heavy metal, thank you).

I enjoyed singing since I was thirteen, and sang two years as a soprano in a choir while I actually preferred pop singing; I was too chicken to perform solo. I finally did my first performance last month. I love music! I lose myself in it quite often. I pick up notes quite quickly and I tend to be quite sensitive to pitch, although I might go off beat at times.

I also started writing when I was in primary 2 and won a few competitions.

Aside from that, I also liked art since I was six - although I never got far in that area. That reminds me:
To Animated: That is some amazing sketch!
