I tend to think that NF types are in a way "weaker" (though this is grossly inaccurate, but the correct word isn't coming to me! Apologies to any NFs around here) than NTs.

I've known one NF (ENFJ) in my life. I found her boring and I didn't miss her when the friendship inevitably ended. Of course, that might have just been her being boring and annoying.

First impression is I find them interesting and I like their company. As I get to know them I either find them increasingly more interesting or annoying. Much like most people, I suppose. :B

I have a friend who's an INFJ (I haven't known till I gave her the MBTI test) and most of my classmates are NFs, I find NFs pretty much friendly, empathetic, quite whimsical, and quite eristic when it comes to human rights and morals (I guess only one of them). Though we had opposite views on human foibles, morals, and etc. (I tend to be a cynic and she, an idealist - my INFJ friend) I've become to tolerate our differences and now, she is one of my best confidants.

Hope that it satisfied your query.

Thanks for the responses! I've never understood the NT response to my NF-ness, especially INTJs.

You've only known one? That's interesting because I'm surrounded by NTs. I'm not offended, especially if you have so little experience with us :)

Haha, I'll take that as a compliment.

That's very interesting, and leads to a follow up question: Do you find that you normally don't get along with people who don't share similar ideas? Or that the people who you get along with do share ideas? And if so, is it because you disagree on those things or because of personality?

I find it interesting that you considered your moral differences things that had to be reconciles before you could become close. For me, moral differences can make for a fun discussion but don't matter in a friendship, especially in comparison to understanding, being there for each other, etc.

Well, differences of views is not uncommon, people will have different perceptions on an issue/idea. I don't believe that opposites attract so yes, I don't get along well with people whom I don't share similar ideas with. I don't base friendship or getting along on difference of opinions, or personality. No matter how different I am to them or them to me, there's always an opportunity to have a common ground for us to share friendship.

(I don't know if I'm making sense or not..and I offer my apologies for any grammatical inconsistency, English is apparently not my native language. Though, I can't shake the feeling that I'm not being INTJ-ish with my answer above, please bear with me.)

So you don't base friendship off of whether you share ideas and believe there's always a common ground for friendship... but, it can be difficult for you to get along with someone who has very different opinions because there's less likely a common ground for friendship?

Yes, I believe so. For example, I shy away from my classmates who are fans of K-Pop because I'm not fond of K-POP, I have no ken of it and I won't ever listen to it. But I do mingle with them if the topic is anything but K-POP.

I gotcha. See, my approach is more to talk to them about K-POP and find out why they like it - understand them a little bit more.

    One more question, I think:

Do you always prefer the company of other NTs?

I would say 50-50, NTs in my classroom are of limited number, but I believe that preference of company should not be only based on MBTI. IMO, I want to have a camaraderie from any type. Those 4 letters won't constitute their whole personality. That being said, I want to be friends with anyone I could get along with just as long as trust and loyalty will be a constant presence.
