Not all INTJ females are lesbian.

Not all INTJs are scientists or mathematicians.

I despise the stereotypes that declare us to be hopeless, hapless individuals who become tongue-tied when dealing with more than three people at a time, or utter losers when it comes to love and/or emotions.

Most of all, I hate the suggestions that we may NOT be INTJs because we do not happen to fit their stereotype of an INTJ.

From what I've seen, INTJ's tend to be the worst judges of other INTJs.

If he wishes to call me a sociopath because I'm able to make a decision, stick to it, and NOT REGRET IT so be it. I am a sociopath. I'll add it to the list of descriptors: bitch, heartless, patronizing, immovable, unapproachable, unlovable and unloving, and, yes, SOCIOPATH.
Uh, oh, I always enjoy your posts. I always think you seem, well, nice (albeit wth a refreshing edge). Does that mean I'm a sociopath too? I've been called that a few times myself. We could start a sociopath club, get together for lunch and discuss sociopathic topics.

Awwwwe. You're so sweet! I'd love to lunch with you. We can sit so we have a nice view of the room and make snarky comments about the other diners. Tell me, who is your favorite fictional sociopath?

Many people come up with mental disorders, thinking that it's related to their personality type. They often post because they want confirmation of their "theories". It's just part of what people do to understand them selves better. They´re usually wrong though and are pretty normal.

Which type is it that judges INTJ's so much? Other INTJ's or other types?
I can relate to the personality disorder scenario myself. I went through uni trying to understand why I was so different to everyone else and wondering if it was PTSD symptoms (although not fitting most of the criteria for most of the time). It turned out to be the way I process information (being INTJ). I laughed when I read INTJ forum threads after discovering my type. It was like I stepped into a virtual world of mini me, all being pissed off with everything. Ha.

There are no specific types that I can see that judges INTJs more than anyone else. It's just the typical ignorance of seeing one person that they think is INTJ (whether they are or not) seeing their bad points then generalising every other INTJ to be the same person. Pretty much like here in Aus with the indigenous population. The majority of people think that what it means to be indigenous is to be given a government house, to strip it down burn it and live in a humpy and be an alcoholic.

I think that INTJs sterotype themselves more narrow sometimes. As if to say that you behave nothing like me therefore you aren't me therefore you can't be INTJ. This is what I have found interesting. There are some of us that "seem" different because of other functions that have been developed. I myself have developed Ti and even perhaps Ne through neccessity of having children with life threatening illnesses. Perhaps I could sometimes look like an INTP? Not that anyone has really questioned my type too much.

I will use Hemo as an example too (I hope she doesn't mind). Hemo comes off sometimes as being an INFJ because she is friendly and inclusive (not the usual self contained INTJ). Her upbringing was in a close knit commune where the philosophy was "it takes a village to raise a child". I am pretty sure there is no developed Fe but there is a learned pattern of behaviour on how to be around others and part of that is to show appreciation in a straightforward manner.

The more that I learn about the cognitive functions of the MBTI the more I think that the reactions of stressors are more important telltale signs of whether a person fits their type rather than what they are normally like ie. using a purple font or starting a thread about not wanting people posting. Of course you can see the differences when you visit forums on the way people interact (going to NFP forums are like a totally different universe for me).

I guess the point I am making is:

It is more important to watch the functions that a person uses rather than which behaviour does not stereotypically fit before making any assumptions of what type they are/aren't.

I'm not sure it is possible to be a sweet sociopath, but this thread is all about staying away from stereotypes! I constantly make snarky comments about other diners. It makes the dining experience much more enjoyable. My favorite fictional sociopaths are:

-Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld series. She is naturally a sociopath but chooses to not be one.
-Sherlock from the recent Masterpiece Mystery show. He's an updated Sherlock Holmes and is a total sociopath. He's also strangely appealing.
-Becky Sharp from Thackeray's Vanity Fair. She's a great selfish sociopath - way more interesting than the sweet and gentle heroine.
-Dexter is great too, but everyone mentions him. I cheered when they killed off his annoying wife. Gosh -maybe I AM a sociopath!

As with many things, people tend to think they understand something when they learned only the basics. Some people then verbalize judgements. Some of them continue to learn, some don't.

What you mention about developing other functions. This is an area of interest of mine so I pay attention to it a lot. I'm seeing more evidence of the main 2 functions learning how to mimic the other functions than I see that there's actual real development of the other functions. It's like you said about hemo. She didn't develop Fe, it's learned behavior, but it's not natural. It's the 2 main functions that are doing something that results in a behavior that looks like it's coming from another function.
