I have a tendency of not picking up the phone when people call me, and answering texts quite often. It really annoys my friends and family. I just like having my time to do my own thing.
I see my friends usually once a week, but we've had our times where I wouldn't see them for weeks or months. As for parties, disappearing is something that happens sometimes, or if I'm in a group of friends or family and we're out about, I'll wander off to whatever catches my attention without saying anything.
Most of the time I still end up kicking a couple text messages back and fourth with the people I consider my friends, though other people that consider me a friend tend to get really upset when I disappear for prolonged periods. They don't really get that sometimes I just don't have the energy for maintaining relationships like that. I actually got a message on a social networking site from someone I dated years ago, mentioning how much they couldn't stand that I would do exactly that. They said at one point I had gone almost exactly to the day, 4 months without returning calls et cetera. (we obviously weren't all that close.)
I believe the longest I had ever just dropped off the social map for no obvious reasons to all other participants, was approximately eight months.
