    Charts, tables, and outlines

Do INTJ's like using charts or tables for business or academic presentations? I'm inclined to say that these visuals would be more preferred by ETJ's in general, but I'm curious to know if INTJ's enjoy these sorts of tools for demonstrating trends or organizational contingencies.

    What say you?

I most certainly do not. I handle millions of pieces of data a day and the one thing I've learned is tables and charts mean nothing. You can make a graph say whatever you want it to; change a scale here, alter a frequency and a graph that once showed an impressive increase now shows an alarming decrease. Tables are even worse. They only compare what the author wanted to compare. I'd much rather be handed the summarized version of the raw data and allowed to make my own conclusions. I do the same thing to my clients. I show them the raw numbers, tell them my opinion on how they should digest it and leave out any visual representations if at all possible.

Yes, I do. As a researcher and presenter, they are necessary.

How do I find them as a reader? They either help as a summary or help to show just how much the author is aiming to hide and/or did not do.

They help me simplify information for my audience, who are not usually INTJ. I talk through them for those that are auditory so I hit both visual and auditory learners. The tactile ones can take their own notes or fiddle with their iPhones while I talk. ;)

It uses diagrams in its presentation, or else it gets the hose again.

When data is shown in any type of visual graph it's usually easier for me to process and understand it.

    Absolutely.

Charts and tables, or any sort of diagrams, help to give an overall view of a system at a galnce. They are a way of simplifying the data.

Charts and graphs make data easier to process and present, but if I have to actually have to think about the data and use it, I'd rather have a spreadsheet.

...furthering my point: Graphs and tables are for those that don't really have to use the information they supposedly represent. I/E management, anything that has "Executive ..." in the title and board members.
