I'll have appropriate physical items in the non fiction rooms. So the cookbooks (641.5) will be in an actual kitchen so you can try out the recipes and the car repair manuals (629.2) will be in a garage with a couple of junk cars to work on; astronomy books (520) will be in an observatory with a giant telescope. If I don't like a book it is ruthlessly eliminated, no matter what the reviewers say. Maybe I can have it in the INTJ village guarded by all the robots and tanks and scary weapons.

Getting over excited here. This is my favorite daydream, probably because I work in a public library, and I spend a lot of my time thinking how much better mine could be.
I nominate Green Girl for the position of "Library Designer".

I just keep mine around for reference. Most of it is non-fiction though.
    Most more than once...

I just counted fifteen large bookcases in my three bedroom house. The only room without a bookcase is the bathroom. Most rooms have at least two. The semi converted garage has seven. In my defense some of the books don't belong to me, but to my husband, who has a large collection of history textbooks (publishers send them to him for free. I'm so jealous). I have read at least part of all but the textbooks. I have been stuck on Chapter 2 of The Golden Bough for eight years now. Do I get rid of the book? No! I might suddenly need a analysis of mythology and religion that was originally published in 1890. It was groundbreaking for its time and remains a valuable resource! Someday I will make it to Chapter 3. I will. Really.

    Quite an ideal fantasy.

I just get absolutely smitten with the concept of a controllable, secure, almost predictable environment. In this sterile haven of isolation I would be free to pursue mental and physical advancement... Books, music, introversion, etc. It would be awesome if this sanctuary existed close to a beautiful natural or historic setting.

Also visit the INTJ Village thread, and the goldmine that it is.

Oh... right... and I have a bookcase in the bathroom...

And I am sure you'll make it to chapter 3...

    Won't the books get moldy?

    I have two more Questions.

    1) How do you avoid people? I find them to be very interruptive in my personal goals, or so I liked to believe.

    2) I find that I don't read as much as some of the other INTJ's on this thread. Do think that recent generations and exposure to technology(video games) interrupt our desire for knowledge?

How much time do you spend online? I think people under 25 don't read as many books, but they read a huge amount, on websites. It's not that one generation is less intellectual than the other, just that they are using different strategies to get information and entertainment.
