    INTJ's practical?

My P function makes me way more capable than any of the INTJ's I've met as far as practical action is concerned. I'm more spontaneous, articulate, possess well-balanced common sense and am less tolerant of sophistry. (Yet I am still an NT meaning I'm not all that spontaneous, articulate, intolerant of sophistry or possessing much common sense at all.) The ENTP's I know are similar The INTJ's I know suck in these categories. What gives? Have I just met the wrong INTJ's? I would not say I was a practical person but if anything I feel like my P function makes me more capable of "real life" than the rigidness and unrealism of an intellectual judging type. It's like they are highly imaginative and then they try to make it come alive with their J function or something. Ridiculous.

(Forunately we are both INT's so whichever one is better at real life it doesn't matter because we both don't care for real life very much at all. Also we suck at it tremendously compared to any other type. It's like saying which species of turtle has a higher max speed on land.)

Well, OP, the convoluted mental flip flopping you went through there at the end of your post, along with the 'well in the end, its all pointless really' attitude,.. about your own post, show one strength of INTJ's concerning practicality. An INTJ would not have wasted precious time and energy on typing out an iner monologue that has no practical purpose.
    Now, would they?

uhuh, I am still gobsmacked they said they were better and thence went on a perplexing riddle to far and distant lands

I have heard of similar happenings before
but it usually involves people visiting the deepest amazon rain forest and licking a toad

Funny. In my experience, the INTJs actually SOLVE problems, unlike the INTPs, who don't have the mental stamina to go for the proper solution. They either half-solve it, or go for the hack attack.

    I wasn't aware there was such a thing as a "P function".

INTJs are the most successful of all I-types:

Salary and Type - Typology Central

INTJs tend to be very well-educated (they actually finish their degrees) This correlates well with success.

I'm just saying the INTJ's I know are awkward and rigid, way more than the INTP's I know which doesn't make sense because INTP's are way less productive, organized, focused, etc. etc.

Not that I haven't met some hopeless INTP's, there are lot's of them, I just think a probing nature helps with real world situations better than a judging nature. I could be wrong but that's how it seems. So it's ironic how unmotivated and useless most INTP's are. If we cared about stuff out P could take us places.

I might just be the most incredible INTP on the planet though skewing my perceptions.

Which happens to be a stable, well-paying job...

    Non sequitur.

Uhm, "P" doesn't mean "Probe". Plus, there are many more differences between the INTP and the INTJ, mostly in function use.

INTJs are practical in that they will think ahead of time and avoid a lot of the stupid mistakes us INTPs will make. However, they don't handle surprises very well. An INTJ during a crisis is not a pretty site. INTPs tend to be much better at reacting and handling situations that aren't going as planned. There are many other examples like this, but this is the biggest one.

With that in mind, I'd say that INTJs are practical in situations where INTPs aren't and vice versa.

That makes a lot of sense I really like that. I think that's what I'm observing because I feel like there are some things in "real life" I'm way better at than INTJ's but overall I'd say I wasn't nearly as practical or "accomplished".
