You guys know how I've been talking about how I'm all psychic? Well I think I know where I got it from.

Today when I was leaving from the house to the train, my dad and I walk outside and he stops short and goes, "It sort of feels like it'll rain today. You should go get a hoodie." So I go inside, get a hoodie, and when I get back out it's a total downpour.

    Shit just got real.

There's nothing as hilarious as the sight of a man waiting his date or girlfriend or wife with a rose in his hand. It always makes giggle

Have you sat and watched all the men walk out with flowers out of Wholefoods on Valentine's day? That is pretty humorous...no guy wants to get caught dead without flowers on vday. It's kinda pathetic to tell you the truth.

    INTP - The Thinkers

I will more than likely be leaving this subforum. I identified as an INTJ for very long, and it suited me quite well. However, after studying the cognitive funtions of INTPs, I believe myself to be one. I am still researching, but am mostly positive in my conclusion. As I have mentioned before, INTJ to INTP and vice-versa is a large jump. What had thrown me off and averted me from believing I was an INTP is that I am very organized. However, I place much more importance on the specific funtions, rather than the general funtions given by Myers-Briggs. So, what first got me to look more into my cognitive functions was that it was pointed out to me that I seem more like an introverted thinker. After comparing it to extroverted thinking, I saw that while I use quite a bit of both, but much more of Ti. Also, some of you have pointed out that I use much Te. I didn't believe this could be true, because I generally dislike people. After studying the function itself, though, it does apply to me. My general struggle has been digging deep into the functions themselves, and not how various people have said they shape a person. Because even though I have certain functions, I don't fit into to the stereotypes for them.
Anyhow, I'll be collecting my thoughts and comparisons of my cognitive functions, and writing them out in a much more specific manner. This will help me see all of the information and make an accurate judgment.

    @Audrey

If you are still struggling with any questions you might have, I might be able to answer a few, since I struggled with figuring out my type for over a year already.

Also, let me drop a big one for you - in case it's something you haven't already thought of (not saying you haven't, but I missed it the first time.)

Introversion and extroversion are attitudes. Intuition and thinking are functions.

There's just thinking. Thinking is thinking. There are two attitudes to the thinking function, introverted and extroverted.

They're no different, they just have a different attitude. You favor one attitude or the other. Intuition is the same. You're just intuitive, and have an introverted or extroverted attitude to your intuition. That's why INTJs and ENTPs can be so similar at times; that's why ENTJs and INTPs can be so similar at times; etc, etc. Even though their attitudes are opposite, the function is fundamentally the same, attitude only defines the compensating bias.

Ti and Te are the same thing, they just have different attitudes.

Te seeks external validation - other people need to agree, and Ti gets it from inside - other people don't need to agree.

But then we INTJs have Ni-dominant, so you see, Te is auxiliary, meaning it is weaker than our dominant perception, so we have to 'pull' ourselves out of our reveries, which seem very much like Ti because Ti is all caught up internally trying to prove things to the self. Ni uses Te to do the same thing, trying to organize Ni-thinking into something rational - Te thinking. Te can be directed inward, but it comes from an external source, hence, you are internalizing the methods and practices of the external world, drawing from empirical sources to try and bring structure to your introverted intuition.

Ni-Te combined is very much like Ti. Thinking gets it's 'illusionary' introversion from the dominant intuition, which is also a kind of thinking, but also a kind of sensing and a kind of feeling. This has the effect of 'masking' the other functions, making them all seem one way or another instead of what they actually are. The dominant introversion biases perception, which then compensates for the bias through projection.

I would look for not just Ti, but Ne paired with Ti, because the functions come in pairs. Intuition with an extroverted attitude supporting thinking with an introverted attitude. Just remember that the functions and the attitudes are not the same.

Also bear in mind, that for whatever purpose you are seeking this knowledge, could you achieve your objectives by simply assuming you use Ni, Te, Ne, and Ti all at different times, and knowing your exact preference might not be necessary if you are simply trying to transform your life or change your behavior patterns - or gain insight into the patterns of others. Perhaps, your current level of insight is 'good enough'?

This is also something that helped me realize I was an INTJ. An INTJ will settle eventually, but an INTP is probably more obsessed with absolute perfection and hate to settle. I don't, it actually comes as a relief when I settle on something. I want to settle things, but I'm really specific about things. The thing is, I have a goal in mind. I know what the end is. INTPs don't work this way, instead things are always left open, nothing is finished, even if it seems finished to other people, to the INTP, it's never really complete. I can identify with that, but not in the same way. It's like one thinking is the mirror of the other, you see?

If you find out you have some kind of psychic power, please do the world a favor and devote your life to unlocking its full potential and then share your discoveries with the rest of us so we can learn from them. One of my biggest peeves is that so many 'psychics' go into private practice and just make money off it, or they're not even real psychics, or they don't do anything to contribute to scientific research into para-psychology and paranormal stuff.

This stuff deserves to be looked at, either to be falsified so we can just move on and ignore it, or to figure out what is really happening and demystify all the magical nonsense and bullshit that ruins it and makes it a struggle just to take seriously.
