in basic training your too busy to interact. you will have plenty alone time among people, mainly standing in formation waiting (hurry up and wait)

you learn to get your alone time when your with others.

250k of coverage in education?? someone lied to you, with the new GI bill you will get enough education coverage to go to college for 4 years in a state funded college. you also get paid around 1k per month for living expenses depending where you live (after you get out). you can take as much college as you want while your in but it is difficult because you are going to be busy (depends on your job in the military)

the worst part of the military is being told to do pointless things on a daily basis. you will see better ways of doing things but are unable to do anything about it. Just do what your told and make it through the day.

I believe our INTJ skills are best suited for an environment that we can control to use our creativity and strengths. The military does not give you that (in my experiences).
Seconded. There are parts of the military where we could thrive, but that's the thing about the military--you don't get a choice about your working conditions. I thought my A-school (nine months of live-in tech school in Tenessee and Florida) was great. Just like college, only with marching and uniforms. We had an instructor that was a riot, and barracks POs that looked the other way while lots of crazy stuff went on. I made lots of great friends there and had the time of my life.

Then I got transferred to New Orleans, which is home to the the most god-awful good-ol'-boy club the Navy has to offer. My E-6 was biased against women, my E-7 was biased against young people, and my O-3 just hated my guts. Three strikes. I had a nervous breakdown and went to the CO of the base and asked to be let out. Arrangements were made, and I got out honorably two years early.

If you're willing to take that gamble, that you'll end up with great people, go ahead. Just letting you know, the entire military's not the same, and you can't always just use a Clinton-era downsizing priority to get out like I did.
    Carpe diem thanked this post.
