I once thought I was a type five but it turned out that my core was type 3.

My tritype is in my signature.

5w4, 8w7, 4w3. I've had doubts about 4w3 in the past, but I'm fairly certain of this now.

My tritype is on my signature. I can relate strongly with the descriptions, such as:

"If you are a 358 (in my case, 583), you are ambitious, knowledgeable and protective. You want to be efficient, wise and straight-forward. Tough-minded, you are good at studying a problem and finding both original and practical solutions others miss. Highly tenacious, you work tirelessly until you find solutions and prevail against adversity."

"A more ambitious, materialistic and dominant Five, who has a talent for leadership and a desire for achievement. More competitive and assertive than others, these Fives manage to get out of their shells more often to experience life in a more direct manner and obtain a position of power and success."

I wasn't sure if I was more of a Type 1 or a Type 5 as I related to both of them. After I saw some descriptions though I realized that I was more of a 1 because of the emphasis on perfection and fairness. I generally relate more to the dissatisfaction 1's seem to feel about things than the detached attitude of 5's, but its a close second.

I'm the only person in my family that doesn't have 9 in my tri-type and everyone is always telling me to chill out LOL.

I have had different test results. First I was a 5w6. Then my next test result is in my signature 1w2..... And then the third one, from another website, my result was Type 3. So, I dismiss all the tests. I did my own research trying to see me fit from those results. But those results are so extreme in description to what I really am. And now, I am 90% sure I'm a Type 9 - 9w8 to be exact. But I haven't figured my tri-type and instinctual stacking yet. And something feels right about Type 9, because it gets a little bit from all 8 types: the idealism of 1, the helpfulness of 2, the goal-orientedness and being a go-getter like a 3, the creativity of 4, the intellectualism of 5, the family-orientedness, security-seeking, and worriness of 6, the love of adventure of 7, and the strength and refusal to be controlled of 8.

Have you considered Type 9 as your core type? I also got the same results as you. But after researching many topics and articles regarding Type 1, Type 5, Type 3, and Type 9, and how they differ in style, I finally concluded I'm a 9, although my research is not done yet. Because 9 gets some large piece of some types like Type 1 and Type 5. At first I didn't believe I'm a 9 because it sounds too passive. But if you go beyond the surface level, and analyze how it is similar or different from other types, you'd know. And something "just clicks" from the description and I said, "that's me".

I've read through different descriptions about all the types before I picked which one was mine. 9, 2, and 7 were the ones I discarded right away because they didn't sound like me at all and they didn't resonate with me. The whole peace of mind thing and going along to get along thing is pretty much the opposite of my personality. I don't like meaningless arguments but the idea of compromising my idea of how things should be just to avoid a hassle actually annoys me. I've actually gotten into arguments with my mother, who has a strong 9 in her tri-type about putting aside what she wants to make the rest of us happy. I just can't let things go the way a 9 would unless I literally don't care about them at all, which actually fits with the type 1 description. The 1 obsession with a sense of perfection resonated with me so strongly when I first read it that I almost made up my mind then, but I wanted to read the whole thing to make sure.
