    Photographic Memory

Is your strong NI able to create photographic memory? Do you have photographic memory? Are you able to generate pictures in your head of a situation before you even get in to it, and be able to say "saw it coming"?

A lot of the INTJ I've spoken with or met seem to be like this. I get intimidated easily and feel stupid, causing me to act silly ridiculous in response to serious discussions with an INTJ. Though, I'm also dyslexic... The INTJ have so much fun correcting me.

I don't think I have photographic memory, but I am an excellent map reader.

    I have photographic memory, yes.
I remember words upon looking at them, I remember environments, intersections, roads, landmarks, rooms with good accuracy.

I probably wont remember street signs as they are small in comparison to the aforementioned.

I can't recall sounds very well.

    Why?

Absolutely, my Ni is very strong. I can easily remember facts and details, especially the big picture I deconstructed it from. Past, present, and future scenarios are brightly recalled with accuracy. It's a bit hard to describe but it's like having a vision, where my thoughts and the memories with them are more then three dimensional.

For me it's more relative to what I'm investing my mental energy into, which is why sometimes I don't have a fair memory of certain events. If I go to a restaurant and I didn't think much of the experience I find it difficult to recall it. Same thing with music, not so much with taste.

I also think it goes hand in hand with our ability to annihilate an idea reducing it to its basic meaning, then build something more efficient mentally. Someone will suggest something to me, lets say a movie I've seen a preview for, I'll think about it then tell them the idea is inadequate and that I probably won't find it interesting. They go to see the movie without me then return saying "yea that was a shitty movie, how'd you know?". Because I took the external stimuli and analyzed it to death by putting my memory of the details into a box outside space and time (or atleast I think of it that way) then get a result in the form of a vision or intuitive voice.

It's also why I usually dominate debates/arguments, because unless you have done extensive research you simply will not be able to keep up with my recall of every iota of fact, statistics, and evidence. Even if it's something you're into...

I might not have photographic memory, but well, I am pretty good in recalling things in my head. In some circumstances, you're right, I can see "something is coming".

ENTPs I know (next-door-flatmate and my mom) are pretty fun to discuss with. They often say "oh, so that's how it is" full of astonishment. How about you @omniblade ?

You can definitely get better at it, I think it depends on how much mental energy you are investing into what it is you want to remember. For me it helps to relax and be in solitude before picking up a book, that way I have the mental energy to expend for the book I'm about to read. I also do different depersonalization techniques and meditation, but not that type of meditation that puts you into the here and now, I despise that. I learned a good one from my psychiatrist years ago, who I don't see anymore.

It will help with conceptualizing and creating new constructs. It's called the rottery. What you do is take an idea and examine all of its details and then move them on a rottery discarding anything illogical, irrational, inefficient, and inadequate with the least emotional or personal input if possible. It works wonders on refining the big picture. I used to take a while to consider someones suggestion of an idea but I can now analyze and deconstruct them effortlessly. There's a few things I can't do that fast, but still great...

By the way, the psychiatrist didn't suggest the removal of emotional/personal input, I implemented that myself.

Sometimes when I'm doing something I get a deja vu feeling, but I'm not sure if I done it before or if it was just my imagination. I also find difficulty in remembering, regarding a certain subject, if I read about it, have seen a movie, thought or talked about it. It's strange. I do have a very vivid imagination.

    Pretty indeed.

I'm usually on the *groan* I saw it as well page. Just in a different way through absorbing details...
