In socionics, "equivalents" to MBTI introverts flip the last letter, so the MBTI INTJ is actually called the INTp in many situations (though it is sometimes argued that these conversions are not accurate - I disagree, but there you go). This is because an MBTI INTJ uses Ni as the dominant cognitive function, and S/N functions are considered "perceiving" in the system. An MBTI INTP uses Ti first, so he's a "judger" in that sense - INTj.
I respectfully disagree. That's a commonly recurring misconception on this forum. However, Socionics uses different cognitive functions. They have different descriptions. (And in my opinion, they are better, simply for being more abstract, shorter and more concise.) What's more they are arranged into 8 functional positions - not 4.

If one did want to make directly translate between the two systems, you'd actually find out that the ego functions for extroverts correspond to the dominant+auxiliary functions in MBTI, while this is not the case for introverts.

It's not that the conversions are inaccurate. It's that no one bothers to actually read about socionics cognitive functions, and just assumes that when it says Te on socionics.com, it'd have to be the exact same thing. (The little symbols - triangles, circles, squares - that they use are intended to prevent confusion.)

You'll notice that in Socionics, INTJs have Ti & Ne for their ego functions. And Ni & Te ends up being the id block of functions, where Ni is supposedly as strong as the leading function, but not consciously experienced.

I think sections 4 & 5 from the wikipedia page explains it well:

Personally, I don't like ENFPs. I'm mostly attracted to those like me, INTJs and my INTP friend. I cannot stand feeling-types, people who are in touch with their emotions and let them influence choices. In my eyes as an INTJ, it's impractical and I don't like it. I've had ENFP friends, none of the friendships survived because I couldn't show enough emotion or empathise and they didn't like how asocial and cold I am. So no, I don't like ENFPs.

Ah. I was unaware of other threads. I'm new here, so I will certainly check these other threads out.
    Perhaps thanked this post.

    @Twoshoe

I already knew that - thanks though. Some MBTI INTP one here is going to have a heyday with the following thoughts, but you've piqued my interest, so here goes.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying an MBTI INTJ can supervise an ENFP if they are an INTj in socionics instead of an INTp, since the functions are inherently different between the systems.

I'm really not sure why the functions are considered to be different. Yes, in numbering, but why, in substance? The way Ni is described is extremely similar to the Jungian descriptions - or I've seen it the same way socionics has all along, without realizing it. What makes a socionics description of a given function qualitatively different than the multitude of other descriptions from other systems? They all seem quite similar. I'm actually quite interested to know.

If they are not qualitatively different, then I also fail to see how the numerical order of the functions makes them interact in different ways between the two systems. Beebe's model has descriptions too, it isn't only numbers.

Not trying to assert rightness here,I'm just surprised to have possibly used socionics incorrectly and had it work out so scriptedly.

Same here. Only that NT women hold my interest more successfully. They are just so hard to find. And it is not enough just to find them; NTs generally seem to take things slow yet I tend to neglect friendships anyhow.

ENFPs strike me as being attractive in the short-term. I like their passion and enthusiasm.

Honestly I don't think they could handle being with an INTJ long term (generally speaking, of course). I could see myself being happy with one, as they would be forever bringing something new to the table, but I wouldn't be able to respond to them emotionally the way they may feel they need.

However, any long term relationship (friendships, romance etc.) takes a lot of work to maintain, because we all get sick of each other eventually. I don't think it matters how well two types, or two people gel together when it comes to long term relationships, because after a point it only seems to depend on how much you can tolerate the parts of the other person that you don't like.
So my answer is yes, INTJs are probably attracted to ENFPs, but that doesn't guarantee a relationship for life, since various other factors are involved (I'm not sure about enneagram types but apparently that's meant to affect interactions too).
Exactly my point. I think this thread and others like it are dangerously close to abusing of typology. It's meant to mostly explain behaviour and personality, pointing out strengths, possible pitfalls, and areas of improvement in a person's life and relationships. But not all aspects of personality and relationships can be boiled down to type or even cognitive functions. There are constants in relationships: love, trust, respect, common ground, effort, perseverance, etc.

Something which I think gets forgotten is that everyone has all of the cognitive functions. Type does not limit which functions you can use, but rather which ones you more likely will use, or which come more naturally. So not only are people not their types, but people have real choices to make which affect their personal growth and relationships.

I've never met a confirmed ENFP male in real life, so I couldn't tell you for sure. (Ya know, people don't go around with their personality type stamped on their foreheads.) And I'm sure as heck not going to reject someone or be more likely to date them based on their Personality Type alone.

I'm surrounded by nerds, so I wouldn't know. A few artist friends here and there. Wouldn't date them.

The people I date are almost always NTs, I have a big thing for good conversation. It's entirely all important.

When I date NTs and they see problems with me, I'm upfront with them. You either let me know what's going on so I can fix the problem, or you end it. Don't be wishy washy, I'm not cool with that.
    Feminine thanked this post.
