The "real" name you were given...

I hate my real life name. It is like an acid-dipped dagger that sits in my heart and whenever someone says my name, the dagger twists and salt is poured into the wound.

I wish instead of sticking to tradition, my parents had given me a different name. A cool name. Something with power and awesomeness.

Instead, I have a rather obvious name for an INFP and the meaning is: victory of the people. :|

Hmpf! Do any of you hate your RL names?

When I was younger I disliked my name. It is a very easy target for bullies. Now though, I havn't really even thought about those days. So I suppose that the answer is no now.

I always disliked my first name when I was a kid. Although my parents seemed to think that they were being original and wanted to give me a name that had a lot of family history behind it, it was rare for me to end up in a class at school without at least one other girl with the same name (ah, to be a child of the 80s :P). Once there were three others, haha. I especially hated it because I always felt so different from my peers. Other kids seemed to have impressions of what someone with my name should be like, and more often than not, they were completely wrong.

In my mid-teens, I started going by one of my middle names instead (yep, I have multiple middle names) -- or rather, a short form thereof. It suits me a lot better and it's relatively uncommon. The only downsides I've discovered are that people often don't know how to pronounce a name that includes a 'j' that's meant to sound like an 'i' or a 'y'. I considered spelling it with an 'i' just to make it easier... but nah, I'm keeping the 'j' in there. Probably if I lived somewhere in Europe instead of Canada, I wouldn't encounter that problem, as my name is relatively common in some European countries.

Also there's apparently a porn star with the same name. :S Thankfully not many people seem to be aware of that, haha.

I like my name, although I don't like the fact my name and surname are really often here, in Serbia. I like being different, so it makes me a bit sad, but I still like my name and the meaning it's got.

i used to hate it.its supposed to be spelled with that "s" with the tail-like thing :P(don't know what to call that) which has that "shuh" like pronunciation ,but my parents made a mistake and they put the usual "s" on my birth certificate and it just sounds crappy.wish i had a cool name like amadeo.

p.s.- my name means saint.. *i can hear you laughing*

My three names mean "princess", "god is gracious" and "pure", in that order. "Princess" always bugged me because I thought it sounded really stuck-up, and "god is gracious" just sounded too old-fashioned and also bothered me a little because I'm not religious. Though I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say I'm "pure"... I always liked that meaning best. Incidentally, the name that carries that meaning is the one I've chosen to go by. I kind of like to think of it meaning "pure" in terms of still being a kid at heart in some way, and also maybe "pure" as in "authentic" or "genuine". I'd like to reach the point where I could truly say that I'm being as genuine a version of myself as I can possibly be.

Oh also, I kind of get a kick out of the fact that my name is the name of a German dating site that appears to be for lesbian/bi women, haha. I'm not really the type to use a dating website at all, nor am I German... though I am bi.
