I've seen 100 bullets since I've been into comics, never got around to reading it though usually when I'm buying trades I don't get to open minded and get something I'm comfortable with knowing it won't waste my money. Idk story wise? I like action, badass action. With a story. I'm pretty open minded so it doesn't matter.

100 Bullets is pretty badass. give it a chance, the story is amazing and the art/action is great.

Anything involving Warren Ellis, especially Transmetropolitan or Desolation Jones. those are badass too.

Watchmen is a classic if you've never read it, Alan Moore is great.

Blade of the Immortal/Mugen no Junin is hands down my favorite comic series, ever. it's Japanese, yes it's about samurai and ronin, and YES IT IS INCREDIBLE. the artist/author has proven to me that comics can have better action than most movies, totally limitless.

edit: i have no real use when it comes to superhero comics, i like the characters but the industry never appealed to me. i prefer streamlined stories and superhero comics are always being remade, redone, expanded, etc. not interested enough to really invest my time into the history of thousands of characters.

i dont know if you can consider it independent anymore because of the tv show, but the walking dead is a good one (read it before watching the show, so much better)

This was so good. I borrowed the whole set from the public library and read it in 2 days.
