    INFP quotes

I thought that I'd make a thread with inspiring quotes that came from infps. You can post quotes from yourself, (as long as you are an infp) infp friends and famous infps. Be sure to also post who said the quote. I'll start it off with one of my own quotes.

I had in the past entangled myself in numerous affairs with women who would not, could not or did not love me. And did I love them? I thought so at the time, though now I have come to doubt it, seeing only that I loved myself through them.

I had myself to begin with, and that is what I lost...in the gap between my ideal of myself and my pounding heart.

    ― Jane Goodall

“We have the choice to use the gift of our life to make the world a better place--or not to bother”
    ― Jane Goodall

“Change happens by listening and then starting a dialogue with the people who are doing something you don't believe is right. ”
    ― Jane Goodall

“Especially now when views are becoming more polarized, we must work to understand each other across political, religious and national boundaries.”
    ― Jane Goodall

“One thing I had learned from watching chimpanzees with their infants is that having a child should be fun.”
    ― Jane Goodall

“Lasting change is a series of compromises. And compromise is all right, as long your values don't change.”
    ― Jane Goodall

“And always I have this feeling--which may not be true at all--that I am being used as a messenger.”
― Jane Goodall, Reason for Hope: A Spiritual Journey

As with the Christian religion, the worst advertisement for Socialism is its adherents.
    --George Orwell

Dickens is one of those authors who are well worth stealing.

If this marriage is going to break up our friendship, I'd rather be deported!
    --Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life

“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else?
    --- (Matthew 5:43-47 ) J.C

"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."

Here you go, from the very 1st INFP of them all:

Isabel Briggs Myers - "We cannot safely assume that other people's minds work on the same principles as our own. All too often, others with whom we come in contact do not reason as we reason, or do not value the things we value, or are not interested in what interests us."

"Introverted feeling types have a wealth of warmth and enthusiasm, but they may not show it until they know someone well. They wear their warm side inside, like a fur-lined coat." - Isabel Briggs Myers

Isabel Briggs Myers (1970, Personal letter to Mary McCaulley) - "In the darkest days of World War II when the Germans were rolling irresistibly along and my shoulders ached with trying to hold them back and a horrible sinking feeling lived in the pit of my stomach, the thought came to me one day (I was making my bed at the time) that by letting them spoil my life that I way I was helping them win, bringing destruction to pass by my own doing. So I stopped, just like that. I made up my mind that there was no logical justification for turning possible future unhappiness into certain present unhappiness by being afraid of it. Do what you can to make a better world, but don't throw away one day or one minute of the world you've got. What I did, as it turned out, was the Type Indicator."

"Whatever the circumstance of your life, the understanding of type can make your perceptions clearer, your judgements sounder, and your life closer to your heart's desire." - Isabel Briggs Myers

Ike: I see... I'm not much for politics. All I do is live by my principles, my sword, and my friends. What can I say? I won't change who I am, even if it means fighting you.
Maybe it's not entirely INFP, but I understand and relate to the character and his fierce devotion to his values/principles so much that this has always spoken out to me, and I've said somewhat similar things before, too, to people who I've argued with in the past.

Eh, I'll come up with some better quotes, later.

My goddess is also largely INFP, and she's said some very powerful and moving things to me before through dreams and meditations.

“Love is so short, forgetting is so long.” - Pablo Neruda (Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair)

"Someday, somewhere - anywhere - unfailingly, you'll find yourself, and that, and only that, can be the happiest or bitterest hour of your life” - Pablo Neruda

"I can't cry for myself, so I will let this song take all of the things inside I can't let anyone else see and offer it up, as if the sound were some kind of god, and my pain is some kind of sacrifice. " - Robert Smith (The Cure)

    "I'm running out of time
I'm out of step and closing down
and never sleep for wanting hours - the empty hours of greed
    and uselessly, always the need
to feel again the real belief
    of something more than mockery
if only I could fill my heart with love" - Robert Smith (Closedown - The Cure)

"Everybody sees me as this sullen and insecure little thing. Those are just the sides of me that I feel it's necessary to show because no one else seems to be showing them." - Fiona Apple

"This world is bullshit." - Fiona Apple

"A man, who as a physical being is always turned toward the outside, thinking that his happiness lies outside him, finally turns inward and discovers that the source is within him."- Kierkegaard

"People understand me so poorly that they don't even understand my complaint about them not understanding me." - Kierkegaard
