How many of us are empaths?

I read somewhere that most INFPs are HSPs. I wonder how many INFPs are empaths? So many of the things we talk about on this site sound like empath traits.

I've been reading - devouring is probably a better word - Rose Rosetree: Aura Reading, Empath Skills, Face Reading, Cut Cords of Attachment - her blog and zine archives, her books, and even had a few sessions with her (with more scheduled), and find her empath empowerment books and info extremely helpful.

I hope this can help somebody. I know it has been so difficult for me always feeling what everybody else was feeling, but not really knowing how I was feeling! Understanding others' points of view so clearly, not really knowing what MY opinions were. And now I know why I prefer nature to people. (Still wish I had a close friend irl, though ) I'm still learning. But it's exciting and fascinating to me!

I think it's interesting how many different types of empaths there are: emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, animal, environmental, crystal, mechanical - I'm probably missing a few.

I seriously got shivers down my spine when I read question 20.
"20. Looking in the mirror, the person I see there does not seem to exactly be me. It is as if there is more to me than that simple reflection."

I could answer yes to every one of those questions. Crazy.... but I guess she would sell more books if everyone who took the test were empaths! haha

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought most of those questions described Fe, not Fi.

I was on the fence with most of those questions.

Fe or Fi - I never really figured that out, but I got 28/28.

I read "aura reading" in her menu, so I stop looking at this website and so should you. The empath part looks...at least partly ok but I wouldn't rely on it.

I guess I must be something of an empath, I know I'm also very sensitive to spirits/ghosts, I don't know if that has anything to do with being an empath, but I tend to be very sensitive to a lot of things, from people's auras to spiritual energy.

I don't like how this whole 'empath' thing seems to be inextricably linked with the New Age movement, of which I am highly skeptical. I answered positively on about 20 or 21 out of those 28 questions. My intuitive assessment of the situation is that I have whatever capacity that describes, but I have some degree of control over it and I do not always experience it as particularly compelling or involuntary. I also reject the notion that it is possible to truly know how another person feels, as we can only interpret stimuli in ways we are capable of, however much our emotions may give us an impression to the contrary (though sometimes the two can be very similar). Overall I identify more closely with HSP than with this.

thanks so much. I love this stuff and live with a highly skeptical family. COuld never actually fortify enough energy for my own self to live and relish these types of articles and experiences in my daily life.

so thanks for being here. big kudos to you! :)

Michael82, I can make my own decisions, thank you very much. I invite you to make your own informed decisions as well, of course. I agree that most of the info on aura reading and new age healing out there is very dark and put me off. The reason I so highly recommend this website is because I have found Rose to be so full of light.

Aura healing is no different from divine guidelines. The surface claims are ridiculous, but to say they hold no essence is to deny oneself experience and perspective.

Definitely an emotional absorber. Not sure what else to say at the moment. 28/28 too.
