    New in town ...

    Hey there

    Got space for another INFP?

I just recently started to look at my life through the personality type lens and I'm finding it really helpful in understanding my journey so far.

I've been lurking about here for the past couple of days, reading posts, thinking lots.

Anyway, thought it was about time I said hello. So, hi

Hola! Good to meet another one of us!

Speaking of which, I'm finding a lot of people around here lately with under 200 posts ... is it just more people getting interested in psych, or more people figuring out there are others who are just as obsessed with ourselves as we are?

    Either way, welcome!

Welcome aboard, BUT I feel like I still don't know anything about you!

So, to break the ice we'll bring out Lad's World Famous Welcomeeeeeeeeeee Questionnaire (TM).

#2 Name your favorite God or Goddess from any mythology.
#3 Post at least 1 YouTube song (you just copy and paste the URL).
#4 Scrabble-style, create a word using any of these letters 'poquifqwpof'
#5 Mention one guilty pleasure (for me, it's the Backstreet Boys :D -- p.s. if you talk in brackets, only mind-readers can read it).

Sorry, high on green tea, but welcome again :D.

    @niki

Twitter doesn't work like a forum. You have individual twitter accounts that you can choose to follow or not. The list I keep is here: Lists of INFPs on Twitter.

Twitter lists max at 500 so that's why I have 4 list instead of a big one. Twitter is so simple. It operates on rule: Be interested or be interesting. I find it easier to be interested.

    1. Click on my list, ie full list 1-4. When you do that you'll just see a bunch of random tweets for all 480+ people on that list.

    2. Scroll through list and see if anyone says anything interesting. Some post haiku on a daily basis. Many post about their trials and tribulations.

    3. If you see someone who says something interesting, you click on that person and read their twitter stream. What I look for is a pattern of that person saying things or mentioning things that I relate to. I follow a lot of geeky people and artists. I also see if that person does @replies. There's no use following someone if they don't talk back.

    4. In order to get people to follow you back, you have to engage them in conversation. They say something interesting, you @reply them. You are under no obligation to follow someone back if they follow you. People say it's the polite thing but what you end up getting is a Twitter stream full of people you followed in obligation saying things you have no interest in hearing.

    5. Everyone has their own personal rules for Twitter. I won't follow anyone who's following more than 300 people. If someone is following a person in the 1000s of people, they won't ever be reading what I have to say. I don't follow people who only posts solely from Tumblr, because they don't see @replies and don't respond.

    6. I have a small trick where if someone who just started to follow me is a pure marketer (is following 10,000s of people) and has no interest in what I have to say. I block them and then unblock them. It removes me from their follow list. They're never going to notice me dropping from their follow list. I don't leave them blocked because if they do notice me gone and really had interest in what I had to say, I want them to have the ability to re-add me to their follow list.

Why I like Twitter is real time conversation? I keep my @replies at about 30% of my Twitter stream. But most of my conversations are real time direct message through Twitter which doesn't appear in my Twitter stream. The only conversations I keep public by using @reply instead of direct message are conversations that have useful information about my non-infp idealogy that will help a stranger decide to follow me or not.

Twitter also tends to shorten that 6 degrees of separation. Damon Lindenlof who wrote and ran the series Lost with J.J. Abrams wrote a comic book series called Hulk vs Wolverine. About 2 years ago, a woman I was following twittered that she was having lunch with Damon. I asked her to ask Damon when he would finish writing the last 4 comics in the series because the were about a year overdue. I didn't really expect anything from it. Later that afternoon, I got a reply from her saying that he told her he turned in the scripts the month before and that the rest of the comic book series would be done published in the next few months.

    Welcome.
Ok. Now you know that ure a INFP. When you have read the type description, it probably clarified many weird stuff u have done in your life.
U need always remember that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There is some ppl with the same stuff here, thats a big relief.
Now, you are conscious about your INFPness, thats a good thing, so you can try to do smth about it. You ll never turn into a social, competent or as-all-other person, but you can only improve, try different strategy of coping, and perhaps reduce symptoms.
If you want to get more info about INFP, u can look at the DSM IV, code 301.82, 296.34, 301.81 or 301.83 .
