Yeah i think it's a stupid concept. It's basically a premise of weakness. You want to be with someone but you don't try and show them. Obviously if the feelings aren't reciprocated, or somehow acknowledged in a kindred manner then that person is not for you. Honesty is a virtue, and if you're honest with yourself, and the person that you have feelings for, then you'll come to a conclusion. Settling for anything that's less than what you feel you need, is ridiculous to me. Life is to short blah blah blah.
This is just my opinion, i have very little experience in these matters.... However, i don't think, from what i've experienced in life, i would do this to myself.

It would be great if it could work that way. In my personal experiences, it's very difficult to make the jump from nothing physical or romantic, to being comfortable with that stuff. I've tried, and I would gladly try again if someone was worth it, but it I find it easier to take dating slowly as if you were friends, but with the objective to be getting to know each other on a romantic level. If it doesn't work out, it's easier to stop things and build the friendship.

I've been friend carded. However I've also done the friend carding.
Trust me, neither is particularily fun...
I actually think DOING the friend carding was worse. It kind of felt like... I stuck my back to a wall, hoping for her to be like a sister to me. To always have my back as I faced down everything in front of me... but then I looked back and the sister I thought had my back wasn't there anymore. She was in front of me, with everyone else. The worst part of the friend card is that things never seem to go back the way they were, even though you both agree that you want it to. But you'll always be watching your back, you never fully... trust them... again, not wholeheartedly. I say that from both sides, the two girls I've ever asked out in my life both friend carded me, and it played out exactly the same way.
The friend zone is an area of complete trust, the utmost area of respect for a person.
    Thats the real friend zone.
That said, sometimes its just an excuse. But I haven't got much respect for people who use that as an excuse. Seriously, just say "I don't feel the same way" if thats the truth instead of "Our friendship is to important to me"
You're already rejecting them. How do you justify lying to them as well?

it's easy to avoid the friend zone...don't act like a friend towards them

I don't think I'd go that far, but I agree its easy enough to avoid if you make your intentions clear right from the start

the friend zone is basically a girls way of saying "I like your attention and company but there's NO way I will have sex with you" Of course it is rarely spoken so a poor guy may think he has a chance so stays friends under the illusion he will eventually have sex.

In my experience the friends first route is slow, manipulative and somewhat paranoid. The big implication is "I do not trust you" Hardly healthy.

This is all to do with the power of sex. Girls KNOW that once they have had sex with a boy/man their power is gone essentially. The only thing they can offer is a relationship and/or more sex. It is not in their interests to give sex early. Of course some girls KNOW that if they do not have sex their chance of a relationship is good as zero

If I were female I would keep at least a dozen 'orbitters' (men I would not have sex with but use for company, free meals etc) but keep an eye open for men I can really enjoy.

Also from my period of being 'loose' I found that a lot of girls will want a relationship despite the fact that I never even said I liked them let alone loved them or that I wanted anything more than sex. I can easily imagine that if I were a bigger bastard towards them they'd love it....

in my experience I have always found it easier to make a sexual or romantic move early in the relationship. 1 / it shows your intentions clearly - a girl can decide if she wants that or not 2/ leaving it late just becomes too weird - I think most relationships the foundations or structures are established within the first 2 or 3 dates
