I find it interesting and I really like reading other peoples thoughts on the matter and see documentaries and stuff. I don't know if it is true or not, it could be. We never know but I am not going to go crazy over the matter... just going to keep on living really and see what the future holds really.

true story:

2 weeks before Y2K, I went to Wal-Mart and bought like 3 containers of oatmeal and a couple gallons of spring water, just in case the pizza hit the fan. Then, nothing happened and I was like WTF, now I have to eat all this oatmeal.

Man, 3 Containers of Oatmeal sounds like heaven to me *eats oatmeal as she types* I love OATMEAL!

How were you going to survive off of just oatmeal and water though? Hope you stored some multi vitamins too.

I had to sit through a presentation on 2012 by a girl in my science class. I can tell you there was a whole lot of eye rolling going on...

I will go to wall mart and buy a few gallons of water and some oatmeal though for insurance (thanks refugee, brilliant idea :P)

I LOVE it.

if you look into the mayan calendar, you'll find out they actually had two of them. one was a cyclic one, and one was in the shape of a pyramid, which predicted (incredibly accurately) the beginning of cell life, the start of mammals, the start of countries (beginning with egypt), the industrial revolution, and the information age. this calendar actually ends in on dec 21 2012. the other calendar (the one everyone's freaked about) ends both a 5000-ish year cycle and a 26000 year cycle on the same day.

also coinciding with 2012 are the end of the astrological age (every 5000 years) and the start of the age of aquarius, the end of measured time intervals between ice ages (which happen steadily every 20000 years or so), we pass through the planar center of the galaxy (every 5000 years; we go on a sinusoidal pattern up and down while orbiting the galaxy, which is fairly flat). not to mention the pole shift in the SUN, that happens every 11 years, actually happens in 2012, that releases large solar flares. and it's the end of the year, the solstice, the death of the plants and the slowing of the metabolism and the hibernation.

it's kindof amazing that all of this lines up to one year, let alone one day.

i have no fucking clue what it all means, but i'd think it's more spiritual than anything. some people think it's a window of opportunity of some sort. for death and rebirth. to shed all of our terrible habits. become enlightened. evolve as a species. move to a higher dimension. open third eyes. strengthen chakras.

I hope we don't have to wait until 2012 for the end. This world needs a good cleaning right now. And that is what it will be a cleaning of the earth not the end of the earth. Instead it will be the end of all that is wrong with the earth. The pure healing. Bring it on NOW!

What I find interesting is that the Mayan's didn't say it was the end of the world but the end of an "era". I see how it could easily coincide with the rise of the Anti-Christ and the "End Times" because of the "blood red moons" and "the sun turning to sackcloth" as foretold in revelation since there will be a few Solar and lunar eclipses that year and the years following, which coincidentally (?) fall right on Jewish holy days!

The "Tribulation" will last seven years according to the Bible, so...2012 could be the beginning of a New Era (the reign of the anti-christ) or put another way, it could be the 'beginning of the end' which is really the beginning of the new beginning.

We shall see.

But...really, how those eclipses match up with the Jewish holy days is downright freaky! The last time an eclipse fell on a Jewish holy day (week) the Jews won the 6 day war. Before that, it was 1948 when the Jewish state was made. And before that...well, before that you have to go back to the 13th century I believe (going off memory here, might be the 14th). But between 2011 and 2017 there will be around 6 eclipses where the sun will seem to be black and the moon will seem to turn to "blood" because of the eclipses.

I don't put any particular significance on the year 2012, but the world is changing, and the change seems to be accelerating. This is true in a political/economic sense but also in a spiritual sense.

The current economic and political systems are collapsing and I don't know what is going to replace it. Some of the possibilities I've seen are quite terrifying. At the same time there is talk about creating a world of freedom beyond anything conceived before.

There is also a growing interest in spiritual or mystical/esoteric teaching and wisdom. Traditional mainline religion just isn't working for many people today.

I see people going in two completely opposite directions. Some seem to be ignoring all higher spiritual and intellectual values altogether and becoming little more than drones. Others are pushing themselves as hard as they can in the opposite direction, exploring the limits of human potential. I hope the latter will win out.

This one's complete crap. At least Y2K had some reasonable grounding due to a handful of programmers' lack of foresight. This one... this one doesn't have any grounding besides, "The Mayans didn't write another cycle" and "Nibiru totally exists, believe me."
