    Rarity of INFPs

I've read many places that we are very rare, but our post count seems to say the opposite.

    Really, how rare are we?

Edit: The more I think about it, the more I imagine it sorta has something to do with our uniqueness. We tend to feel different from the rest of the world, and thus get lonely, and when we finally find more of our kind it becomes a favorite hangout xD

    Maybe.

We're rare in real life because we're all holed up in our homes, posting on forums and whatnot.

haha, what jazz said : P

    ...

technically, our type is supposed to be quite rare, but our type is also rather inclined towards myers-briggs, traditionally (i mean, werent myers and briggs actually infps themselves? might be wrong about this) and, thusly, we're disproportionately represented on this site.

we're outnumbered by most of the other types - it's just that most of them arent in here.

I think I can safely say that INFP and Internet are like this:

The internet is like a gigantic playground where we can roam relatively anonymous and free.

If you believe the stats, there may be as many as 5 INFPs out of every 100 people. To me, that seems a lot. I'd think we'd be more "visible" at that number, especially considering ISTPs & ESTPs are at about the same amount (I find them everywhere...). But then, maybe it is because we are "holed up", as mentioned. True enough of me .

I also notice INFPs don't have much influence on mainstream culture, which you think we'd have at 5%. For instance, the above-mentioned STPs seem to have more impact than we do. They even form the sort of "stereotypical male" in many ways. Yet, INFPs consistently are perceived as odd by others. This is not simply my perception of others' perceptions of me, but hearing their perceptions of other INFPs (one INFP woman I know is routinely called "strange" & "crazy" by people). If we have the same numbers as ISTPs, why not similar acceptance? I'm not suggesting the stats are false (although they should be questioned), but what they imply is interesting and raises other questions.

That is such an accurate picture!.

Essentially reality sucks and the virtual world is our playground! I don't even know where to start some days. I do very much feel like a kid in a candy shop.

All my tabs reveal my whimsical train of thought. I hate closing one, because they're all in order of my thoughts. Boo urns! boo urns!

Idk, I've found it to be relatively consistent in INFP's being called the "rarest" type of all. If it's true, I'd prefer to keep it that way ^^
