Having Personal Space & Flinching Away From Physical Touch.

I don't know what's my problem... I have this personal space issue and I always feel really weird when people invade it. What I mean is, when someone steps in too close where I'm sitting/laying/standing... I just feel weird and either move away or tell them gently to please move. I feel very much overwhelmed when someone stands there in front of me and tries to poke or hug me... I flinch away before it happens.

    Any other INFPs got this?

Yes, In the forums I am all huggie. But in real life if someone tries to touch me I will physically back away if they are a bad person. And I can feel the bad people from the good. In fact I can't even be in the same room with these people. They make me feel like I am going to chock to death on their negativity.

Yep, I do. I find myself wanting to give the space invader a lesson on "space' in general, like "you see this area right here(using my hands,)this is mine; that over yonder is all yours; see how much more space you have than I do? Now, you must keep at least this much(using hands)space away from me; this is the law....." I often wonder why they feel the need to be all in my space anyway...maybe they really are "space invaders"?

I have my personal bubble and I get really uncomfortable when it gets invaded. I've learned how to tolerate it to a certain extent so that I can at least do a subtle shift sort of thing or find a good excuse to get up and walk away or back away after a few minutes.

With good friends, or at least people I've hung out with several times, I'm much more comfortable and can give and accept hugs and a touch or whatever without flinching much.

When I'm comfortable with someone though, I don't mind a lot of touching and hugging and all that because it is another way that I can show them that I love them. Friends and family all get this, as long as they are comfortable at least. Otherwise I won't push it.

Of course, the number of people in the second and third category are maybe two dozen people at most.

not a touch person. I only do it when i feel comfortable and it means something. Not much for casual, friendly touches. Dislike when someone initiates touches which were not solicited. Just a thing.

When people get into my space, i just freeze up like a deer in headlights. I hate it when people invade my space; however, if you're a good friend I'm quite touchy-feely.

We have a loveseat and if someone sits on it with me, even my mom, I'll move. It just depends though.
My family, in general, aren't very huggy.

Not at all, I hardly ever touch someone when I'm talking to them, but I have to say, I kind of like my personal space invaded...that sounds kinky for some reason... But I do. And I would also have to say that I like hugs.

Just wondering - how do you determine someone's goodness?
(edit) maybe I should clarify... I let some people touch me and flinch away from others based on "vibes" that have no real logic behind them, which probably confuses and hurts a few of my friends/family... I don't want to say it's based on their "goodness" but I can't think of a different word. I hate it when my grandma teaches me, but she's undoubtedly good. I don't mind it when random people on the bus touch me. I don't get it.
