    Jobs for INFPs

What would be some good temporary jobs for INFPs? I'm not asking about careers. Most of the information on the internet describes occupational fields that INFPs thrive in or enjoy doing, but right now I'm just looking for a decent job that pays the bills. Unfortunately, I'm disorganized and absent-minded. I wouldn't mind working around other people sometimes, but I hate having to wear a smile when I'm not happy and pretending to be overly amiable. I think I'm an easy person to get along with. I respect others and expect the same thing in return. I'm not good with details, however, and I have a tendency to lose focus when I get too bored. I got fired from an office job because my mind kept wandering off and I started making little mistakes. At the time, I was somewhat depressed too, and I had been writing a story in my spare time so my thoughts gravitated towards that instead of my responsibilities. I used to work for the Transportation Security Administration at the airport. Passenger/Baggage screening is not a good job for someone who tends to lose focus and overlook details. I quit there and joined the military, and now I'm unemployed. What kind of jobs do you other INFPs have at the moment?

I fill my permanent in between careers with data entry. It's pretty good. Better hourly rate than admin and such generally, and your mostly left alone with your fellow data entry nerds.

Child care. I have a temporary job babysitting, and I am loving it. I am able to apply my art, music, and psychology to something practical, and it is a healthy outlet for my need to nurture, which would otherwise be getting me in trouble.

My first job was in High School. My mom gave me a nursing job at her hospital. I wasn't actually a nurse but I took calls and helped transfer the sick from one room to another. It was a very great experience but it became too sad when a child that I had known for 2 years in the hospital has died of cancer. I just wasn't ready for that. Anyways, if you are not afraid of death surrounding you, the medical field will probably be your best career. You can also be a school nurse like my aunt. hehe.

nice. im currently educationg to become a social worker. but i work as a sole musician also. a "trubadour", singing and playing guitar in pubs and bars and making people sing along. its good pay, and when i do that - I'm my own boss. i recommend that if you have musical skills.

Well I wouldn't suggest any place big. I am so quiet and anxious, and I work in a huge retail store. It's exhausting. I feel like walking out on the job every single day I'm there. But I need the money for now.

My dream would be to work somewhere small and/or quiet, like a small coffee shop or a library. A library would be perfect because it's calming and no one really bothers you too much.

Don't go anywhere that's too hectic or big!

I worked at UPS for the first part of my schooling. They paid my tuition, gave me full time benefits for part time work, and truthfully I loved the work I did. It was really simple, just throwing boxes around for four to five hours a night, but I was able to listen to my iPod with audio books. Plus it was union so as a difficult INFP in an ESTJ management style, I was protected, they could not fire me for anything.

Although the pay and benefits at the local hub where I worked have gone sucky, FedEx is more competitive here. Although now I just live off the GI Bill :)

Outside sales job is good because you can be your own boss and your sales style is something people do not usually encounter (meaning a win/win situation) , it can be fulfilling and fun.

    You mean like selling security?

I almost did that a few years ago, but backed out. How well did you do, did you like it? Did you make like $10-15,000 like they always say you will?
