your creative wedding ideas wanted! :-D (first INFP thread here on this topic)

    Hi everyone,

I was searching this forum for any discussion of unique and creative wedding ideas that INFP's have had. I was VERY surprised to find ZERO discussion on the topic. so much for us being amazing romantics and all...

I'm interested because I'm hoping to get married in the near future to my wonderful bf, and there is so much about the wedding "Machine" that makes me mad! -it's so plastic and contrived. I hate it.

But at the same time I know there must be creative/unique ways to make the occassion special for us and all who come that don't come with an exorbitant price tag!! :-P and "icky" consumeristic feel.

There must be pleanty of stories of unique wedding ceremony's and receptions amoungs the INFP community - I mean, creative expression is one of our favored gifts! :-)

So I was wondering if you have a story to share?

Oh my god, I may not be a girl, but I used to dream about dream weddings. Ugh, I need to stop watching chick flicks.

Anyways, my ideal location would be where I was born, Iowa. We'd do it in February since the snow in that time still is going, but it's not like blizzard snow. It's enough to be breathtaking and harness the gentle coldness outside. We'd marry near this lake. This lake has sand in it and the snow will mix with it and it'll be so bittersweet. The lake will be frozen and you'll see why I want it frozen.

There will be flower petals scattered across of all types. Azaleas, Sunflowers, Dahilas, etc. I'd love to see ribbons decorated on the trees in the background. It'll be around sunrise time and then when the wedding starts and when the I hear the words "You may kiss--" I take my bride's hand, I'll whisper into her ear, "Do you trust me?" and then she'll say, "yes." and we'll race to the frozen lake and slowly step on the frozen lake as a sign of trust that I'll be there. And then we'll kiss and the sunrise will rise and it will be gorgeous. It will also mean that a new beginning has happened, just like a new sunrise since the morning sparks new beginnings. Always.

    Yes, I am very cheesy.
Oh, and good luck with your boyfriend. Once you get married, show us some of the wedding pictures. :)

My ideal location for a wedding would be at an Autoshow XD! I love cars, and I think it'd be awesome if I had my dance with my wife on one of those car rotators..

But that's in a realistic case, if not then I see a room say with our favorite cars lined up along the hallway, their faces watching us and accompanying us while we walk down the middle, as if there's a red carpet for us. I can feel her heartbeat in my hand, the air in the skies above us newly rejuvenating for us as we suffocate in each other's love, then reach a mixed version of our dream at the end of pathway. (The dream would be instilled in a car, in every curve and every body of it)

And then the kiss, then from there. I see the car driving through autumn leaves as my hand tangles with hers, as we travel our road together~

If I were to get married it would defiantly be on a secluded beach with the most immediate of family and the closet of friends. We would have a dinner after wards as the reception where friends and family can make their toast and what not. And I would like to think that I would choice a location as to where it would also be perfect for honeymooning. Just a small and simple wedding. I really hope not to have to deal with a Bridezilla.

We got married on the roof of our old house... haha! It was a flat and sturdy roof. :) We no longer live there... not sure if it's flat and sturdy anymore. ;)

you gotta have theme, like on viva la bam, his unholy union where everyone was dressed goth. Though, you can take it further than that. What type is your bf? if he's and NT you could make a joke out of the "wedding machine". Make it scifiy themed, maybe have the minster appear on a computer screen to marry you instead of actually being there XD

I've never been one of those women who was dreaming of her wedding since childhood - so I totally get rejecting the "wedding machine" . I think large, fancy weddings/receptions can be lovely if they are not ostentatious, but they seem waaaay too expensive and to require a headache-inducing amount of planning - decidedly non-INFP! I personally also dislike when the party aspect eclipses the dignity of the ceremony....

I happened across some article about small weddings though, and it caught my eye merely because one woman had gotten married in a LIBRARY!!!! How INFP is that? . The books actually made a beautiful, colorful background, and the library had a serious & elegant tone that seemed right for a wedding. She had her mother's 70s gown altered & was this adorable "indie" looking bride. Afterwards, the few family/friends who attended just went out to eat at a favorite restaurant & had a friend who dabbled in lomo photography take some photos in a nearby park. Sounds perfect to me . I think it said they spent less than $500 on the whole event.

This doesn't sound cheesy at all! Where can I find a guy who likes chick flicks? Anyway...I've always wanted a rather traditional wedding strangely enough...though I would really like to design the wedding dress and other dresses...with lace and ruffles...I would want the dress to be special not your typical one (something with a old-fashioned type flair)...I'd love to get married in the fall, outside under a gazebo with autumn leaves falling everywhere and the light filtering through the trees dappling everyone's clothes with light. That would be pretty. I'm such a hopeless romantic...

If you have seen the movie Labyrinth with David Bowie, I want my wedding to be this:

I want to be in THAT dress with THAT hair and marrying David Bowie. Mmm...
I fantasize about being with Jareth often. I totally would have chosen him.

My favorite story I heard was a couple of friends of mine who went out to a field nearby the year before and planted sunflowers around where they wanted their aisle to be. The whole wedding was sunflower themed, with the ceremony under a large shade tree. A good friend of ours who is skilled in guitars and singing did all the music, and then they rented a big tent and set it up in the field for the reception, which, in style, seemed to be a bit more traditional.

I personally have only one detail in mind that I am loathe to budge on. Immediate family only - at absolute most, maybe one or two external friends as bridesmaids/groomsmen. That's IT, no matter who gets upset.
