    Fashion Sense prior to college

Am I the only one who had an absolutely atrocious fashion sense in middle/high school? I chose the most ridiculous outfits in the world, and walked around school like I was the shit. I can only imagine what people said about me. Example:

    • A pink fishnet poncho with a back tank underneath, with tan jeans and black and pink Chuck Taylors. My logic was that the pink and black matched.

    • A giant pink sweatshirt with regular jeans, the most awful black Reeboks ever made, and a giant, artificial rose that I hot glue to a bobby pin and put in my hair, which kept in a bun. Add chandelier earrings.
    • A black back pack that I "Bedazzled" with foam letters from wal mart. I used Hot glue (once again) and wrote "Skool is Kool" on the outside pencil pouch. The day before school, i realized how atrocious this was, and peeled them all off, leaving hot glue residue all over the backpack. I wore it like this for six months.

Got any middle school stories to share? My middle school years were especially horrible.

I don't really care about fashion really...I don't have clothes that I feel represent me though...I feel so boring and like I just look the same as everyone...and I don't like that, because the clothes I wear are just not me. But I don't have money and my parents can't buy me new clothes. I've always kinda been awkward and not really into trends...I know I've looked like such a nerd >.<
Right now I don't look like a nerd so much...I don't think...but I don't like my clothes! I'm on of those people who needs to feel like their clothes are representing them and who they are...When I can buy the clothes I want, it's gonna be Etsy all the way!

I came to associate my appearance with my identity from a rather young age, so it was important for my appearance to express who I am. Around 14 my personal style really started to develop. I had a tendency to wear styles before other people did, so in a sense I did do the trends, but before they broke wide open. I tended to do the riskier stuff than the styles the girls at my school adopted.

I've done some faux pas over the years, but you'll always have some mistakes when you take risks. I'm more refined now than when I was a teen, and less concerned about being unique or the first to sport an item. Still, I think my teenage self dressed pretty awesome, especially considering I came from a lower middle class family on a very tight income.

Some odd things I would wear in high school (not together though ):
    - silver doc martens
    - faux fur coat
    - black leather pants
    - dark red lipstick
    - clear pink vinyl raincoat

Heh. Well, in middle and high school, I dressed pretty strangely I suppose. I had many tutus; rainbow, red, orange, black and white. Dark green suede Doc Martens, fishnets and other obnoxious neon coloured stockings, purple and/or blue hair, neon jumpers and LOTS AND LOTS OF BLACK RAAGH. I also had checkered dresses and lots of ribbons I liked to wear in my hair. I had hot pink and yellow tartan jeans, a pinstriped jacket and I loved to team those two together with my green Doc Martens and a ridiculous shirt. Yah <.<
I had a backpack which I... "edited". It said "Roxy" but I changed the letters using black nail polish, so it said "Fuck?" and covered it in buttons and studs and various band patches. I also cut it up and sewed it back together.

I used to dress that way to (hehe) a) express how I was an EXTREMELY confused teenager and b) weird people out, in the hope that laughing at me would brighten up their day xD

oh my God lol...i assume all of you went to school in the U.S. in the part of the world i'm from...we were colonised by the British. one of the remnants of pommy colonialism is that in grade school and high school everyone's gotta wear uniforms. and have the same lenght hair cuts, etc

now in Uni i wear a suit everyday. not a stuffy business suit or a super formal dinner double-breaster, but a dark gray single breasted blazer with dark gray chinos. and black cuban heel boots. the variety comes in my shirts. i love shirts! i have them in stripes, off-white, plain white, red, etc...i especially like to be dressed that way, smoking and talking to a pretty girl. or better if the pretty girl was the one who lit my cigarette.

i like to look and feel like a debauched poet from the aristocratic class.

Oh yeah, well I'm in Western Australia and we had to wear uniforms. I was just taking about what I wore outside school during that period <.< xD
