    Non-Conformist By Nature

I hate being a non-conformist, it's just the way I am. I wish I could fit into some kind of social organization. Everywhere I go, I feel outcasted: the military, the civillian world, high school, college, church, every job I've ever had. I have a few close friends I would die for - actually just one. He's always been there for me. Unfortunately, he got married so we don't hang out as much as we used to. Blah! I hate it! Why can't I just fit in somewhere?

I enjoy being a nonconformist. It is what has helped me to fit in, and hindered me from fitting in. Odd balance, but I like it.

    Try embracing it?

    Joe Mettalic speaks the truth!

It can suck not finding a place for yourself, so Just make your own!

The world is much more bizzare then we can imagine, so embrace it and help show "the normals" a little bit of what else can be.

:D Set places are for people who are too retarded to make their own. If there isn't a seat and space at the table of life for you, go out into the woods, chop down some tree limbs and make your own.

Yes, often I have known it'd be easier not to be so naturally, innately non-conformist; and wish I fit better in places. It used to be confusing to me. As I've come to learn that I'm more of the swan then the ugly duckling (referencing that story), I accept and understand better myself.

Hey, the world needs noncomformists; even if the majority truly try to squash them into conforming.

Yes, it's been terribly lonlily and caused me a lot of self doubt at times! If I could be different in the past, I sure as heck tried really hard!!! Luckily I like much solitude and have always had at least a few great friends. Having a dog is an extra plus in a world where it seems not worth trying to explain somethings to people to get me.

I have learned to relate to them; yet, many simply can't relate to deeper parts of me.

I think this is the difference between NTs and NFs, or specifically, NTs and INFs. NTs revel in their non-conformist nature, while INFs are more reluctant to embrace it.

I don't when people are intentionally non-conformist because they "think its cool" to not like the same as others. It gets really annoying. I once dated a guy that once music got popular he'd refuse to listen to it, he never saw popular movies...etc. It got annoying. I appreciate those who are ACTUALLY different, and not trying hard.

I know what you mean. That's as pathetic as those people who follow every trend and fashion.

exactly. I mean some people like different styles of music/movies...but I like when they can appreciate the popular stuff too, or sometimes the trends are actually cute...and trends for a reason. I'm all for discovering underground music, independent films, etc...but to stop liking them because they got popular is stupid, or not not see a movie because its really popular. Most likely a movie is popular because its a good movie.

I actually made this same argument in another thread; but I can't remember which one.
