Same for me, although often I had to have my entire body covered by the blanket and the blanked had to be tucked in under my body, because otherwise the evil shadow-creatures/crocodiles/tiny-flying-witches-with-magic-powers-on-brooms would come and do something horrible... I also hid my stuffed animals under the blanket with me and whispered that they had to be very very quiet because otherwise we might be heard.
I never really had any imaginary friends, although I had this very elaborate fantasy-world I often day dreamed about with a complexed society of different ranks of people, laws, etc.
I spent most of my awake-time day dreaming, often having conversations with myself where I acted out the different characters and matched them with tone of voice/facial expressions/ gestures... they also included conversations with people I knew, which sometimes left me confused with which conversations I'd had were real or just imagined.
Of course I also played with stuffed animals/dolls/other inanimate objects/ me as god and body parts islands etc.
