Versaille, is in my opinion, one of the most beautiful palaces in the world. And while it is sort of over the top for an INFP, I would LOVE to live there, especially for the historic aspect.

But there's also the more realistic option, a house in nature or near the mountains, like many of you mentioned. I love the town I live in now, and may settle here in the future. I like Victorian and Italian style houses as well.

I love the climate of Hawaii with the houses in the UK.

I want a house like this:

    or this

    placed here:

    Waimea/Kamuela, HI

No big cities for me, my town will look like this:

    This is also good:

I would live in a little outrageously expensive apartment in the very centre and I would hang scarves everywhere and in the evening I would take a little boat, or maybe a raft, onto the canal outside and read Heidi with yoghurt raisins.
I'm Dutch, and live in Almere. I go to college in Amsterdam though, and have some relatives there. It's a city with a lot of character, and all the old buildings and canals really give it a unique vibe. I just don't really like the direction it has been going in the past decades. There's a lot more graffiti, trash and punks on the street nowadays. In the right areas though, it's still very charming. I personally don't intend to move there; it's (as you said) outrageously expensive and there's so many people.

I like all the pictures of the nature-ish houses in this thread. I can definetely appreciate the INFP taste when it comes to that. I guess the only downside to such a house would be that you're often in the middle of nowhere, or at the least not near any of the big cities. I really like being able to go a shopping centre whenever I want to, and would hate having to plan a trip for that.

In my own city they're currently building some houses on top of the Ijsselmeer (a big lake in the center of Holland). I like the idea of being disconnected from the city in some way, while still being able to enjoy all the conveniences that come with city life. Here's a picture of the building plans:

We don't own anything in this world. We come in with nothing and leave with nothing. We are caretakers, pedestrians of the earth.

I saddens me when people like that, who use their creativity and innovation for something good and pure, get stamped on by the petty boot of beaurocracy. Giant housing developers rip up our landscape to build yet another collection of soulless boxes. Who is doing the most damage?

YOU ARE SO RIGHT, I agree 100%. I don't know how many times I've thought this and been outraged at the idea that people "own" land. It's been here for millions of years, who are we to say we OWN it? And who the HELL would demolish that beautiful hobbit home?!?! That makes me incredibly angry.

I think those "soulless boxes" are the epitome of ugly and yet they are so popular. I don't understand. I find it disgusting.

Andrea Zittel, an artist, made her own ISLAND and lived on it. Here's a link to a couple pictures. I always thought it would be cool to live on an island or live in an RV and just drive around. This is kind of similar.

Otherwise I want to live in a hut in Haworth in the middle of a field, and work at the Apothecary shop or maybe I will lie and pretend to have the Faith and volunteer at the church. The hut would have hay in it and over it I would put blankets from Age Concern, £1.50 each. I wonder how long I would really survive by myself without luxuries. Maybe a very long time, maybe I'd cry afterall. I am spoilt!
Haha, I love how detailed your fantasy is.

I love thinking like that, making every little detail perfect. When you said you'd hang scarves everywhere, I started thinking about what I would like to have "everywhere" in my cool house and realized that there could be so much more to my dream home than just its structure. Very exciting thing to think about!! I, for example, would love a room of just mannequins. :)

I'm not an INFP, but I thought I'd throw it in here anyway since I'm always glancing through the INFP section. :P

My home would be modern, stylish, but at enough of a distance from society to be relaxing and a "getaway", yet not so distance that reality is completely forgotten.

The only house I've seen that I would kill to get my hands on:

    The Cullen Household
