INFP - do certain colors have certain meanings for you?

I make jewelry, paint, sketch, crochet and knit, etc. In each thing I make, each color that I put in it relates to something that is going on in my life, and thus produces the creativity. I very rarely stick with 'proper' colors/color mixes - for example, I made a necklace today with beads of about 10 different colors. I recently painted a picture that had red wings in it. The multi-colored necklace was my beginning to look at how scattered my life currently is - and each bead represented some different activity or relationship. The red wings had to do with loving protection of a woman who has mentored me.

Does anyone else do this? Do certain colors have meanings that are consistent in your mind? Or do certain colors have certain associations at different moments, depending on what you're expressing?

I don't make anything like necklaces or crochet or anything like that out of colours, since I don't actually do much with my hands, since I prefer drawing. But I know what you are saying.
When I feel angry or just at loss with the world, I draw a black and white picture of anything- animal, human, whatever- attacking nothing but empty space, maybe with a splash of crimson with it.

Though I think I have a different meaning to colours, mostly on which colours methinks suits different emotions. For example, I would associate the colour orange, at any shade, to pain. Or the colour white for anger. It varies, and sometimes the meanings shift as I progress through life.

I don't really put colours to moments- instead, more to people, and the colours just seem to change the more I get to know them.

Sorry if that seemed a bit long and confusing- I understand what you are saying, but it is hard for me to explain it in my own words

I associate people with colors, or I might "feel" a color. Numbers have colors too. But thats probably different than what you're asking.

Your color associations are interesting! Why orange for pain? white for anger I can see a connection, but not orange. Meanings often shift for me. I used to associate people with colors, but then I realized that at different moments I would associate different colors with different people, and it wasn't a gradual change, it just shifted moment by moment. I still feel strange about it.

So many different variations on these colors, there are about a million different shades of *purple* right?, but here's what comes to mind for me.

    Purple - royalty, King, Queen
    Green - healing, growth, Spring
    Black - death, secrets, a void, hidden/invisible, grounded/grounding, Goth (blah - can't stand Goth)
red - blood, anger, aggressiveness, a need to heal anger, evil, triggering, the Devil
    Blue - water, ocean, sky
    Yellow - renewal, flowers
white - boredom, pure, clean, soooooo boring... lol, angelic
Grey - neutral, calming, no hassles
    brown - poo
    Pink - sex
Orange - House of Orange (European dynasty)
Violet - Liz Taylor, protection, calming

I'm all for bruise colours. Wine red, blue, green!

In France last summer I remember going crazy because the room I was staying in was just white walls and floorboards. It had lovely beams and antique furniture, and shuttered windows, but I didn't like it at all. I missed my room, which has every single colour in it.

Why orange? I'm not so sure.
It is just when I think of pain, orange is there- it could be because it reminds me of dawn.

Dawn is beautiful, with a lot of reds and whites and oranges thrown in there for fun. Yet, if you think of it, it is full of bitterness, lost, lamentation and anger, for before the dawn came the night.
At the end of a chapter in our life, there is always a decision to be made, whether it is small or big. When the night is finished, and the final decision made, a new chapter is formed, a new lease of life.
Yet, the dawn is there, the last momentum of those bitter emotions you are planning to leave behind- it is those memories that hold the pain of the last chapter, as if in rememberance.
It reminds you of the past, it makes it harder for the next chapter to continue.

But the dawn will go, and leave the day there in their absence... And the only bad emotions that will be felt are the new ones that will develop over time...

I hope that makes some sense.

Yeah, colours changing colours always happens to me- once I experience something new, a colour will always change, so it is hard to pin-point which colours means what after a while.

I do believe that colors have a meaning. I also have a strong interest for Chromotherapy and other color theories~ ^^.
I chose my profile pic because I think it describes my personality.

Thank you for that, Pantheory! It helps me think of the transition that I'm still working through. It was a big one, and I have so many memories that still feel...bittersweet, I guess. And they're painful at the same time. Orange..hm..

It is no problem ^^ I'm just glad someone doesn't find me completely crazy by associating orange to such an emotion
I wish you luck in your transition then, and for the future :)
