Not just the battles, but also figuring out where to go next all the time. The funny thing is that I've heard the designer for the ending, as a part of his artistic vision, refused to do too much bugchecking and any difficulty tuning at all. So I imagine it gets much worse too. Some people have told me to just skip the whole game, and go straight for Earthbound, but I'm still planning to go back to it someday, and maybe use this fanmade Easy Patch thing that's around to make things a bit more bearable. I'm sure it'll be worth it though.
Yes, Earthbound is well balanced and not very hard, especially if you grind a little in a few places. It's also generally straightforward and linear, although you could get confused at a few parts. I'd only reccomend mother 1/EB0 if you become a fanboy of the series, because EB's better in every way. EB2/Mother 3 is also really good.

I'm not much of a gamer, but my favourite one is Kingdom Hearts (the whole series)! I fell in love with the storyline - it's really well crafted. It always has this ongoing motif with light vs. darkness, and ugh /wipes tears from eyes. And it's one of those things where you can look at it from different layers/perspectives. On the surface, it's a story about a boy trying to balance piecing back together his world while journeying on the quest to save other worlds from being consumed by darkness. But on a deeper level, there's more than just that. I mean, all the quotes and morals and symbolism and everything is just, I don't know... it really makes you think and reflect about things.

"The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes."

"The heart may be weak, and sometimes it may even give in. But I’ve learned that deep down there’s a light that never goes out."

"If there are any other worlds out there, why did we end up on this one? And suppose there are other worlds... then ours is just a little piece of something much greater. So we could have just as easily ended up somewhere else, right?"

Those are probably my three favourite quotes from Kingdom Hearts. The first one - really had my mind gears going aha. The second one, I guess, really got to me - right in the heart /sob. And I almost forgot, but the THIRD one just speaks my thoughts and feelings exactly.

On a lighter note - I played all of it, on beginner's mode of course hehe, but I made my cousin do all the boss battles. So yeah, obviously I don't play games for the gameplay (?) because I suck harharhar

Other games I play though are just for fun though, like Cooking Mama, Pokemon and Animal Crossing, heeehehe... >uo~*

I like online "progressive" games that give me freedom. But I like to play it alone, because I hate having to follow people around.

I love Halo and RPG games. When there's a fun game with a great story such as Mass Effect, I'm instantly wrapped up in it. Games such as Bejeweled are ultimate boring though, I'd rather work. Sometimes I see people play that damn game for hours!

    This thread is glorious. x)
I'm definitely the "Wanderer" type but I also might fit into the Participant group.. or want to..
I can play very strong when I solo.. when I'm with others, my Ne distracts me.. OooooooH SHINY.
Or I bark out orders, which can get sort of tiring.. I can be party leader no problem, but I prefer following because I'd rather spend my time enjoying myself. If others are organized and trustworthy, I will be willing to follow their lead.

I totally agree with the seeking awe from games. Sadly few games inspire that feeling. A short few that do are Child of Eden, Journey, Final Fantasy 13 and to a lesser extent Prince of Persia 08.
Journey is fantastic, I would encourage everyone to play it.

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Half-Life, Portal, Halo, The Walking Dead just to name a few. I don't play many oldish games, I used to own a Nintendo 64 and don't play much Dreamcast, well except for the occasional Soulcalibur.

I like video games and spend much time playing them. My choice is good plot games, such as RE, TR, DMC, FF ... I don't care much about gameplay, any genre is ok. I often play MMORPG as well but I tend to be solo. My class choice is mage, necromancer or something like that. It must require some personal skills to play or pk other players and can survive well without party. I really hate playing healers and physic classes.

I don't mind top rank. I just want to enjoy the world in game alone and private. Playing games makes me feel comfortable and somehow help me forget about my real life.

And some people say I'm a weirdo because of that. I learn about literature (in my language) but like games. When I was in the university, I didn't have any classmate sharing the same hobby. And in games (MMO), no one shares the interest in reading and writing with me.
