i'm not a huge gamer, but i do have a thing for RPGs and 80s atari/nintendo classics.
i like pac man, tetris, and if i ever go out for pizza and they have puzzle bobble, i HAVE to play it.
i like urban exploration in game environments. i want to explore outside the given boundaries (feathers in super mario brothers, yeah?)

i'm generally disinterested in modern games. especially ones whose primary objective is raping and pillaging and murdering at random (fun for the whole family on a drunken thanksgiving, but not my cup of tea).

except for guitar hero. i played it once, was HOOKED, and have been craving it ever since. alas, i am poor.
here is probably where i also blush, push my glasses up my nose, and admit to owning its absurd acid trip predecessor parappa the rapper.

Don't be silly! They're not living!
Video games are no different from movies or TV that has violence in it. Also, I know you might disagree and 10 years ago this would sound crazy to some, but I think video games are a new art form. I love playing games and have been playing them since I got my first giant, clunky, gray GameBoy
However, my first love will always be music.

Ah yes... parappa the rapper... in all of its strange quirkiness

Some of my favorite games: Mario games, Metroid games, Zelda games, Oblivion, Halo games, Super Smash Bros, Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty games, Bioshock, Pokemon Red, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games on the PS1, Uncharted, and many more.

I also love classic games from back in the day
I love good stories and characters and have played some great RPGs (Oblivion, Final Fantasy VII, Pokemon) but I always struggle to get into many RPGs. What are some good ones that you can recommend? (Not on xbox cause I don't have one ).

I love Nintendo 64 ^_^ Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Paper Mario, Paper Mario II (The Thousand Year Door), Super Mario 64... <3 I'm a huge geek when it comes to those games. My friends and I have days where we have epic Mario Kart and Goldeneye (for 64) tournaments.
I am also addicted to tetris. I play for at least a hour every day O_O My high score is 1867780!

I think playing a real piano is 1000 times more epic than playing a video game though

Interesting point of view. As much as I would like to, changing your opinion on games would be pointless. Thanks for posting.

I don't play many RPGs, sorry. Have you tried the Persona games? Much love to Bioshock, Oblivion and Spyro though <3

I'd also rather spend my money elsewhere. It seems video games & their equipment can get rather expensive. I'd rather have a great stereo and extensive record collection because I love music. It's simply a matter of interests....I can see why some people like video games, but they just don't do much for me. I also realize this is not the "norm" for my age group.

Sometimes at parties, people have a Wii set up or guitar hero / rock band, and it's fun to play as a group activity. I can't see myself wanting to do that on my own though. Again, it just doesn't stimulate me enough.
wow, that's exactly how i feel, I mean your entire post. I can't remember the last time I played a video game, and I avoid TV if at all possible.

I was reading some random blog one day, and it had an interview in it between a teen (I'm 19) and someone who I believe was in their 30's or 40's. Anyways, the teen made some comment about the "culture of their generation", and the older one replied "if you call watching TV a culture." That hit me really hard, and I thought about it for a while and realized that most of the people around me had lives completely based on TV culture. That kind of sickened and disturbed me. since then, I have actively watched probably about 3 hours of TV a week or less. My parents (oddly enough, kind of a role reversal) are especially bad for this. It's like they live their dreams through a tv screen, if you know what I mean.

Sorry for the rant lol, it's just something that's been bothering me.

From about the ages of 7 to 16 or so I was a very avid gamer but now Im older I can't imagine anything more boring to do after work than playing video games.

My favourite game ever was Broken Sword and I would probably enjoy playing it even now if you put it in front of me. That and Discworld II: Missing Presumed...? They were both point and click adeventures and Discworld II was the funniest game I ever had the fortune to play in my near decade of gaming. I would give it another go in a heartbeat.

Apart from that I really don't miss video games at all.

polaroid sea has my number. Puzzle Bobble is God.

I used to play indie games all the time, and still do sometimes. Cave Story, VVVVVV, Iji, the Jumper series, all of cactus' weird low-gfx games etc. Great fun, especially Cave Story, really, I recommend anyone into platforming to download it now. brings me back to being 15 again.

    also, recently:
Dragon Age: Origins (spent 30 hours trying to bed an Alistair, had to settle for a bisexual elf instead. balls.)
Left 4 Dead 2 (addicting as all get-out)
Torchlight (best Diablo clone I've played)
Fallout 3 (exploding limbs and slow-mo wailing never gets old)
    and online Doom!

oh, and I've been trying to get through Bioshock, but it irks me. getting back into it after a year is hard and since video games gave me a low attention span...

I loved videogames and I used to be very passionate about them. Nowadays, what I look for in videogames is a compelling story with well developed and fleshed out characters, a good atmosphere that lets you immerse into the game's world, good artistic design, good music... Any of these things, really. I can't play videogames solely because of the gameplay anymore. I don't think there are many games like that anymore (and the ones that do try to go into that direction haven't appealed to me much), so I've drifted away from the videogame world. I still check some news about the industry every now and then, or buy a couple of games a year, in hopes of finding one of those games I'm interested in.

Some of my favorite videogames are the Metal Gear and Castlevania series, Half-Life, Okami, the Zelda series...

    ENFP cutting in.

I'm not sure if I really fall into the Wanderer category as expected. Sure I enjoy watching the more cinematic games in that category (Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear and Batman: Arkham Asylum jump to mind), but I never come close to finishing any of them (and seldom start from the start).

For me, gaming is a competitive field between friends, akin to pool, foosball or darts. My library over the years has been almost exclusively made up of sports, fighting and FPS games, and I still glamourize in my mind the long-lost days of arcades. So call me a Conqueror, if I'm not mistaken.

No I haven't played the Persona games. Are they any good? And yes I love me some Spyro (the old ones on the PS1 though).

I really don't watch any TV ever. I play video games and watch movies but TV programs hardly ever hold my attention for more than 5 minutes. Most stuff on TV today is garbage. However, I love old school nicktoons and cartoon network stuff from the 90s, as well as sitcoms from the 90s like Seinfeld, Everybody loves Raymond and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I also love really old cartoons like Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, etc.
