Im feeling really down recently and just need to diffuse the depressive feelings and thoughts and just generally feel more stabilised. Its hard to pull myself out of it too because the negative thoughts/feelings are sometimes too strong. So how do you guys deal with these things?
I don't really, just be depressed for a while and sleep a lot. If I get really depressed I'll just take 20,000mg+ of vitamin D. Snaps you right back into normal mode.

Speaking of which I'm pretty down myself right now. :\ Dunno why.

    EDIT:

Now I'm not down. Hardstyle makes me happy, check this out. It has power and happy. Makes you have feels. Bass feels.

    * Going on a mission to discover what ___ is like. Doesn't matter what.

    * Making up a silly dance. Laughing.

    * Jogging at sunrise.

    * Listening to sad, somber music. Crying it out.

    * Figuring out a way to solve something that's troubling me.

    * Closing my eyes and feeling the wind against my face.

    * Writing a fictional letter or a little poem or drawing a doodle, and sending it to someone via snail mail.

    * Thinking about our little planet swirling through the dark amongst the stars.

Everyone has given excellent suggestions. No matter what you do, just be loving towards yourself and let go of the judgments about being depressed. Let them come and go and they will pass. Try to see the depression as an invitation to learn more about yourself rather than something that is horrible and destructive. Love yourself and know you are amazing the way you are. You don't need to live up to all the ideals and stories that you tell yourself. Rest in what you are. Here is an interesting video on depression.

I think, that personally, I need to be careful with music. If I am singing along to a song while driving and having fun with it, then great, sing till the heart is content. When I am depressed, a lot of time I listen to sad music or depressing music. Although I can relate to the music at the time, I think I need to be careful I don't let the music perpetuate or give strength to the depressed feelings. The wrong kind of music will keep me trapped in depression rather than move me away from it.

    - go shopping
    - puns
    - jump on my bed
    - watch Disney films

... Note to self. You are too big to jump on your bed now! Stop breaking it!

I echo what others are saying. I will also add: let other people take care of you. Don't push people away, even though that might be your first instinct. Yesterday, for example, I had a burst of frustration and anger and I began crying and shut myself in my bedroom. i was wallowing in it. My husband came in and laid next to me and tried to cheer me up. At first I resisted and tried to stay in my cocoon of negativity. But then I slowly started letting him soothe me and I let myself feel cared for. Within a half an hour, I felt 100 times better.
