A great read, thanks. I can relate to all of it. I was an embarrassment to my dad growing up because I was the only family introvert. Which to him was the same as his second son wearing a pink dress to school. Beatings & scoldings didn't even cure it so I was "disobedient" too. Eleven years in the military didn't even "cure" my introversion. In one military school the guy in charge yelled "You can NOT be an introvert and be a leader! YOU CAN'T!!" Then he started screaming "It is NOT possible!" over & over while he pounded the desk top. I think he had that argument with introverts over the years & it became a personal battle for him. We've had presidents who were introverts! Anyway, I graduated but almost flunked out for one reason: I didn't talk enough. That was actually in writing on all my papers. Just imagine cornering an extrovert & screaming "You MUST be like me! Change now or I will give you hell forever!" We'd be dragged away to a mental hospital. While I'm on my soapbox, why is "outgoing" a complement & "ingoing" isn't even a word? Wow, the article touched a raw nerve in me. I could vent on this topic for hours. I'll go chill now. : )
I'm gonna start using this word now, thanks @Aqualung.
