Just finished watching "The Lion King" and then the last episode of Steven Spielberg's "Taken". The effect I got from both of those produced the signature I now have, though this has been a long time coming. This feeling that fear is an illusion. I'd say I've been coming to it for two years, but tonight I really wished I had watched "Taken" back in 2002 to glean the knowledge I have now, though I fully accept that I was probably unprepared for it, and everything has happened as it should.
Best of the Best
I haven't seen any movies lately, but want to see Beowulf just because I was told it has horrible CGI, it strays far from the book, because it'll be a waste of 2 hours of my life and I'll never get it back, and because I want to either laugh at how horrible it is or rage at how bad it is (plus people telling me not to watch it makes me want to watch it more XP)
The Vow- CT... (fav bit when they got married in a museum unauthorized and when he punched the dude who she kissed)
Melancholia - Boring, tedious and pointless. Has great lighting and cinematography. I fell asleep about 3/4 way through, even though the second half of the film is much more interesting than the first. But that still doesn't make it actually interesting, just more interesting than the first half.
LOTR trilogy - Classic, what's not to love?!
Onibaba - Interesting scenario where love and jealousy compete with each other surrounded by war and reeds. Reminded me of The Willows story by Algernon Blackwood.
North Face - True story of two German climbers and their attempted ascent of the north face of the Eiger. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted and endlessly sad.
Harry Potter series - Forced by the gf to watch. Last film was the best, not much happens in the middle films to speak of.
Drive - Great stuff, a real INFJ film if ever I've seen one. Can't really say exactly why I liked it, it just felt good. And has great acting and cinematography as well.
I am traveling and so haven't been able to catch up on anything. When I am able, I want to see Take Shelter. It has been on my list for some time.
Saw The Secret World of Arrietty last night. I'm pretty sure we were the only adults in there without a kid lol. Anyway, much like the last movie we watched (Hugo) the music was beautiful and soothing - so much so that I pretty much fell asleep a bit in the beginning again lol (oops) but I mean that in a good way. The beginning starts off slow and relaxing then the plot picks up speed. The art is gorgeous as always. It didn't end how I thought it was going to end. It made me tear up (sad tears) even though it wasn't a bad ending. Maybe I'm just a sap.
