When even something as simple as a spontaneous purchase can cause one to go into a stomach fit of butterflies and slightly shaking fingertips. (What the hell?)
You're also this INFJ if said "excitement" has survived A) Thinking about treating myself and B) Succeeding in doing so but is fast decimating into a bundle of possibilities of what could possibly go wrong.
Hence, you're an INFJ if online purchases, much like going off on your own to make a purchase in a store that deals with these things: A) Money B) Interaction and C) Technology makes you anxious.
    Again, what the hell?
Pleasure is pain for us, friends.

    Again @Lady nurture
    good throughts.

Conected to this i think is something very important in sefl growth.
For me my road to recovery from a downward spiral was decideing to take up hobby that was just for MY plesure
and to not feel guilty about this.

From that decsion i was able to then move into more complicated areas ie beging to practice my art again (which i had stoped for 5years)

So my point is, make sure you ALOW your SELF plesure and work realy hard at removing all caveats from that enjoyment.

And from that beutifull things can grow that can improve the life of others, and not simply because denighing your self all plaseure doesnt actully make you a nicer person to be around.

When there is that one person who's always trying to "break you out of your shell"............What happens if I don't want to break out of my shell? I like it here.

I don't watch the news, in fact I hardly watch tv. And what I do is I keep telling myself what I'm graceful for and that helps me out. Please I say prayers to maintain my energy. Thank you though for the kind advice : )

To me, what matters less is what their intention is and more why they do it. A father beating his son to teach him to deal with the harshness of the world? Okay, maybe that's an admirable intention but the issue here isn't his intention it's why he thinks this is a valid/effective method. We could avoid a lot of pain and suffering if people learned a different approach to knowledge, meaning, processes...to each other, too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

It also matters why he has those intentions in the first place. Was he raised in the school of hard knocks? How does he know his son will have to face the same hardships as he did? How does he know that those hardships aren't themselves brought about by the 'rigorous training' he endured?

The intentions themselves are of little interest to me. I'm not going to judge a person as 'good' or 'bad' just because they want one thing or another. I'm more concerned with results than principles.

Just because you're INFJ doesn't mean you're the same, nor are non-INFJs necessarily different.

lol, yes, semantic-slinging is definitely a useful skill for INFJs, and it doesn't come naturally. If I had to put a function to it I'd say it's a Te thing?

Not to put words in anybody's mouth, but it seems that Rouge may have simply been using "intentions" to satisfy all of the cognition leading up to the act and the subsequent consequences. The father claiming that it will teach him to deal with the world is only a byproduct of why he thinks it's an effective method. I do agree with you that the father's schema is the root cause, it just seemed like an issue of semantics. I'm sure some philosophy majors would tear me a new one for lumping the intentions and the cause of the intentions together...

I had a relatively vanilla childhood. Do parents beat their kids just to show them that the world is mean and painful? Or is it only as a punishment to show them that the world will treat them harshly if they act out (thus beating them only after they act out)?

Also, I'm new to personality typing and am loving it here. Just saying. Thanks already to everyone.

Very new to the functional preferences (Te v. Ti?), but I definitely garnered some semantic-slinging capabilities after only a few months with my ex-ENTP (see above post, haha). I think my T is pretty developed, so I can kind of jump on board with the ENTP logic even if I don't agree with it sometimes.

As soon as someone says to me "thats just semantics" i know theve lost the augment.

and i agree "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" they intentions people tell you are never the reasons they do things, its just an expalnation to them selves, they dont know why there beating ther son, but they no its wrong so they need a reason, to make them selvs belive its right.

Somtimes people real have got something badley wrong but clearly there motivation was good,
but dont confuse that with the endless lies people tell themselves (and you) to justifie the behaveiour. With good intentions.

how can there be anything 'good' in torutring children?

ALWAYS STRIVE TO BE LESS WRONG

There are worse things in the world than being wrong.
    I'm just saying...

that depends entirly on what you are wrong about

wrong about your favorite flavour of icecream
wrong about not having a nut allergie and chooseing pistachio

wrong about reading books is for swats
wrong about that women have no right to education and should be stoned to death if they read a book

always try to be LESS wrong
