    Your Cognitive Functions?

How do you think your cognitive functions developed right now?

At this time, i think my CFs look like this:

    Ni Fe Ti Se

Just about exactly a year ago, i think my CFs were like this:

    Ni Fe Ti Se

I was a lot more empathic and compassionate back then. But i intentionally changed myself because i thought i was a pansy. It worked well - I became more 'badass'.
But it then went too far, and i was becoming a bit of a jerk. Along the way, i undertook some intellectual pursuits that i think exercised my Ti.
That, combined with lack of Fe usage contributed to my becoming jerk-ish, i think.

So i stopped that, and now i'm somewhere in the middle between 'pansy' and 'badass'.

    "A badass pansy"...

I have a feeling i would be a bit happier if i were more empathic, etc. I want to find a good balance where i'm very compassionate and caring (as is sort of an innate INFJ trait), but at the same time capable of kicking ass should the need arise. Sort of a gentleman ideal, if you will.

Strong Ti and weak Fe make you jerk-ish?!

INTP Cog Funcs: Dominant: Introverted thinking (Ti), Inferior: Extraverted feeling (Fe).

    I am deeply offended.

(I am not deeply offended - it was all a joke!)

Lolzzzzz... I'm probably wrong, 'cause I'm not as schooled in the cog functions as others on this board, but I think strong Ti making one jerk-ish probably has to do with what order of function it is. Maybe strong Ti only makes you jerkish in tertiary position? When not balanced by strong Fe? Feel free to set me straight, y'all.

You can see my function order in my signature. Taking a cognitive functions test really helped confirm my INFJ-ness to me and helped me understand why I was sometimes confused about what type I was: the functions point to INFJ overall, but I have strength, for instance, in Ne, which does not belong to INFJs. For some reason, I sometimes read descriptions of ISFJs and go, "Yeah, me too."

I guess, @JigOS, I am the "pansy" you once feared yourself to be! Maybe I should work on being more of a "badsy" or a "Pansass".

    Lol!
I say: if you don't mind it, then don't change it!
I have a feeling us INFJs are probably supposed to be nice; and are happiest when we are so.

Another option though, would be to remain compassionate and selfless, but develop a strong will to go with it. In that case, we could be nice, in a badass way.

That makes sense-- i think this might be where the INFJ-revolutionary stereotype came from..
(Eg, "I swear, I am going to help this downtrodden person and God help anyone who stands in my way!")

Mine would look something like this:

    Ni Fe Ti Se

    Se is there....somewhere in there

I just started discovering cognitive functions through the various posts in this forum. It's going to be a while of reading and catching up before I can be of any use to these discussions. I did an online test just now and am posting the results. I think they're pretty close to what I already know of myself - Now I'm off to study more about this:

    ----
http://www.keys2cognition.com/explore.htm <-- this is the test, I wonder if it's authentic though. The results came out pretty close to what I expected.

    Your Cognitive Development Profile
The forty-eight questions you rated earlier tap into the eight cognitive processes. Some questions tapped into basic or developed use of a process used by itself, while other questions tapped into use of multiple processes at once. The profile below is based on your responses. The number of squares indicate strength of response. The equivalent numeric is shown in parentheses along with likely level of development.

Cognitive Process Level of Development (Preference, Skill and Frequency of Use)
    extraverted Sensing (Se) **************** (16)
    unused
    introverted Sensing (Si) ******************************** (32.3)
    good use
    extraverted Intuiting (Ne) ***************************** (29.6)
    average use
    introverted Intuiting (Ni) ***************************************** (41.6)
    excellent use
    extraverted Thinking (Te) ****************************** (30.5)
    good use
    introverted Thinking (Ti) ******************* (19.3)
    limited use
    extraverted Feeling (Fe) *************************************** (39.4)
    excellent use
    introverted Feeling (Fi) ******************************* (31.3)
    good use
    Summary Analysis of Profile
By focusing on the strongest configuration of cognitive processes, your pattern of responses most closely matches individuals of this type: INFJ

    Lead (Dominant) Process
Introverted Intuiting (Ni): Transforming with a meta-perspective. Withdrawing from the world and focusing your mind to receive an insight or realization. Checking if synergy results. Trying out a realization to transform things.

    Support (Auxilliary) Process
Extraverted Feeling (Fe): Building trust through giving relationships. Empathically responding to others' needs and take on their needs and values as your own. Checking for respect and trust. Giving and receiving support to grow closer to people.

    INTP - The Thinkers

The tertiary function, also called the relief role and the Puer, is sometimes described as being fundamentally amoral. Note I did not type immoral; we don't use it maliciously, we just are not bound by either positive or negative ethical considerations when in that mindset.

For an INTP, Ti is instead in the role of the dominant or Heroic function, which is the most strongly connected to our sense of morality. In this position it strives to form a rational ethical framework based primarily on the value of honesty and objectivity. Part of this objectivity involves avoiding bias and not considering ourselves or our wishes to be more valuable than those of others. Ti is a fundamentally critical function, which in a dominant role is turned mostly against the self to provide a strong check against jerkiness in most situations.

Si dominants are often offended by the amoral puer Si of the INTP, because their ethical framework is based on norms and traditions which we relish overturning.

    Fe>Ni>Fi>Ti>Te>Si>Se

It gave me INFJ despite the really high Fe. I thought I was an ENFJ but figured my Ti is too high and my Se too low. Not really sure what to make of it..

Yes, i suspect my becoming a jerk was mostly a character based thing, though i think temperament did play some role. I would've developed my Ti, and chosen to be an ass with it (according to my 'badass' ideal i had created in my mind)
