This is a discussion on 50-50 I - E or Is there something like an ambivert? within the INFJ Forum - The Protectors forums, part of the NF's Temperament Forum- The Dreamers category; INFJs are the most extroverted of the introverts. Our Fe makes us so, this causes us to want to connect ...

INFJs are the most extroverted of the introverts. Our Fe makes us so, this causes us to want to connect and be around other people. This is why the internet is a good place to go hunting for an INFJ. We have our solitude of being alone on a computer and then at the same time capable of connecting with numerous amounts of people.

I have heard similar things before. I've wondered if ISFJ's would perhaps be "more extroverted", however.

The dominate Ni seems to be a very introverted function in contrast to Fe.

But I like what @vel said in this thread Introverts that Don't Need Solitude?

Whether people are or aren't involved in this world is not relevant for definition of introversion. You can be rock climbing in solitude and because this is interaction with environment this would be classed as extraversion. You can be introverting and attending to your own thoughts even if you're spending time with another person and each of you is just quietly doing your own thing.

The common popular definition of introversion vs extraversion runs that introverts don't like to spend as much time around people, so then people are baffled to find very sociable introverts or extraverts who shun people. Reason is that this definition of extraversion vs introversion is wrong, that is why it doesn't hold up in many cases. There are some good articles about the topic here Introverted that present it in a different light.
It makes sense that extroverts would be more social simply because they get energy from external stimuli, but being social really has nothing to do with whether someone is an introvert or an extrovert.

Yeah that's pretty damn perfect on the description of how I operate :)

I test out high on average around 90% introvertedness (high 80s, 90s, and sometimes 100%), but I still consider myself a 'people' person. It's the Fe in me! I relate to this:

I hate being alone and need social contact or to just go outside and do stuff. Being alone makes me depressed and I get bored, cranky.

o.o here...it comes out like this every damn time, a description of my functions:

Cognitive Process Level of Development (Preference, Skill and Frequency of Use)
    extraverted Sensing (Se) ************************** (26.5)
    average use
    introverted Sensing (Si) ***************** (17.4)
    limited use
    extraverted Intuiting (Ne) *************************************** (39.9)
    excellent use
    introverted Intuiting (Ni) ********************************** (34.6)
    good use
    extraverted Thinking (Te) **************** (16.1)
    limited use
    introverted Thinking (Ti) ****************************** (30.7)
    good use
    extraverted Feeling (Fe) *************************************** (39.9)
    excellent use
    introverted Feeling (Fi) *********************************** (35.7)
    good use

    ^^ any ideas?

o.o also a reason I may be more of an E is that I don't like the silence in communication...if someone makes these longer pauses I feel the need to fill them in or start reading into what that person is feeling/thinking to figure out the reason for the silent moment. Silent moments make me antsy lol. Yesterday I met someone new and I was totally fired up during and after the conversation too :\ was so good to talk to someone new for a change.

I can't really decide or know x.x having social anxiety kinda overlaps with what it means to be an introvert. While introverts get tired or loose interest (I don't even understand what exactly happens to an introvert in a social situation), I just freak out, I get so scared of making a fool of myself that I shut up have the anxiety reactions and just want to get away asap. Talking one on one in a social setting scares me the same way as talking to a group.

    >.< NE and Fi are strong but Te and Si suck monkey butt, so ENFP is not really good lol.

    >.< Fe is strong too but Ne seems stronger then Ni, Se and Ti are both stronger then Si and Ti...so ENFJ would fit if only for my social anxiety. ENFJs are very social, but the situations that they manage literally freak me out of my mind.

:\ INFP sems also kinda plausible but the same problem holds true as with ENFP Si and Te suck.

o.o that is how I got stuck with INFJ lol XD but Ni is the third or 4th strongest function lol.

<.< or it could be that this test is bogus.

By those cognitive functions, and strictly by those you would be more of an ENFP or ENFJ than any other NF. You're NF is for sure though. However, it depends on how you look at it. Some people believe that cognitive functions dictate what type you are, others believe that it is whichever you identify with the most. It is rare to find a person of a personality type that perfectly fits that types prescribed cognitive functions.

You are a person first and foremost, not a personality type that is based in personality theory that is flawed and a pseudo-science. An ENFJ/ENFP might not be social and may have issues that prevent them from being social. An INFJ/INFP might be very social or not very introverted for that specific person's personality. Take pride in who YOU are, not what type you are. We shouldn't have to arbitrate letters to how we are to feel proud of who we are, we should know who it is we are by ourselves. Personality theory should just be used as a helping hand to figure things out. All the answers about who you are is inside of yourself, MBTI/Jungian theory is just a convenient way to understand it all.

    You aren't a box.

:) you are right. Judging the energy I got today from talking to people I'd have to agree on the ENFP part. I'm an NF and with that have my infj , infp and even enfj moments. I'm gonna go with that.

Rim you remind me of myself.
I am never sure of my type. I go from being certain about one type then doubting and becoming a different type. It took me a while to realize that in order to learn about different types I had to sacrifice my identity. I had to see the whole world of typing within myself. The cool part is that you might be like me in that you can do that!

^^; haha, you sound just like a 6 when trying to type himself. I found this video that mainly confirmed what most if not all 6-es went and are still going through when trying to type (its on the E6 forums). The whole "I can see every type in myself, but neither one fully feels okay..", "Ahaaa! I must be this type, but wait...what if I'm not...this little bit here doesn't fit...hmmm..." etc.

The whole jumping back and forth, doubting, searching, needing certainty and confirmation..going from type to type unable do decide or find a stable one is very characteristic of a core HEAD (in my head and mind thinking all the time) type that needs certainty (because its safety) and having that fear based drive which is essentially an natural inclination towards doubting and questioning (not actual fear in the literal sense).

:P this is basically why I do it and why I did it for such a prolonged time. Once I found I was a 6 and found my tritype, it became stable, now that I found my instinctual stacking, it is stable as well (I haven't changed it in months). :/ one should really really AVOID Riso-Hudson's type 6 description as it is utter crap.

The MBTI is still a ongoing search...
