    Are you seeking?

There is a tarot card which depicts a hermit wandering with a lantern. He is searching for something, seeking something out. Yet what is it that he is searching for? The answer is, of course, open to one's interpretation.

Myself? I am certain that I am seeking beauty. And what else? I am seeking the beauty that exists in companionship. Among other reasons, I was especially motivated to join this forum because I seek like minded humans, "similar minds" so to speak. I noticed that the dating section is currently out of order. Thus I want to clearly throw out the fact that I am a male seeking a relationship with a female possessing the same thirst for life and all its beauty. In addition, I am also of course seeking valuable platonic relationships with both males and females as well.

I will add that I seem to be a borderline INFJ/INTJ; I fit neither type perfectly. But since I believe type is circumstantial, this is acceptable to me.

Oh and...who here loves australian shepherds?!

I am seeking a mode of life and a world that isn't bat-shit insane.

I am seeking strength and compassion, power and love, food and sex.

    I adore Australian shepherds:)

It's great to have you here.

When I was younger, I was very much the Fool, wandering innocently through the mine field of life, guided by my intuition (the dog tearing at my ankle). As I grow older, I find myself ever becoming the Hermit, guided by the Death card, symbolizing change.

My search? The search for meaning. The search for inner peace. Abandoning the material world. The clearing away of Kitsch, and subsequent revelation of Truth. Not necessarily the Truth, just an acceptable truth. I am a type 9w1, so the search for meaning is internal, inescapable.

Also, I generally get along with shepherds, Australian or not.

    Hey horrible aesthete!

I happen to have my Kierkegaard in front of me. You think he was an INFJ? I'd say it is likely.

The rest of your post is all too familiar to me; I get it.

My bf who is an INFJ 9w1 has said this to me often:). The similarity in thought is very striking.

Kierkegaard does not need to smile, he needs you to smile!

I concur. It seems quite likely.

Very interesting. So, I am not alone, there are other male INFJ 9w1s out there who thinks as I do. This is comforting. If we were to meet, do you suppose the cosmos would implode? Must be a nice relationship, two INFJs.

Here is quote from the guy who started all this discussion in the first place, that, I think, sums it up very well:

"The fact that many a man who goes his own way ends in ruin means nothing…He must obey his own law, as if it were a daemon whispering to him of new and wonderful paths…There are not a few who are called awake by the summons of the voice, whereupon they are at once set apart from the others, feeling themselves confronted with a problem about which the others know nothing. In most cases it is impossible to explain to the others what has happened, for any understanding is walled off by impenetrable prejudices. "You are no different from anybody else," they will chorus, or, "there is no such thing", and even if there is such a thing it is immediately branded as "morbid"…He is at once set apart and isolated, as he has resolved to obey a law that commands him from within. "His own law!" everyone will cry. But he knows better: it is the law….the only meaningful life is a life that strives for the individual realization- absolute and unconditional-of its own particular law…to the extent that a man is untrue to the law of his being…he has failed to realize his life’s meaning.

The undiscovered vein within us is a living part of the psyche; classical Chinese philosophy names this interior way "Tao", and likens it to a flow of water that moves irresistibly towards its goal. To rest in Tao fulfillment, wholeness, one’s destination reached, one’s mission done, the beginning, end, and perfect realization of the meaning of existence innate in all things."
