It's not really introspection though. Like I said, they have a lot of different adjectives that are very generalized. Anyone can relate to any of the numbers. Even if one spends no money on this stuff, believing in generalized crap like this can deceive people.

I agree with that. It can be very deceptive.

I personally try to look past the frilly bits of it (the fancy words and generalized descriptions) and basically try to catch the gist of what it means. Once I have that in mind, I relate it to circumstances in my current life.

Now I don't know if everyone else does the same (or perhaps to a more extreme end) but that is my process. I don't think of myself as christ-like or anything ridiculous of that sort. It's merely a matter of knowing your own abilities and not letting the descriptions get the best of you.

Though I suppose most people might not have that kind of personal insight.

No, I'm not into numerology. I believe destiny is what you are willing to make of it. Nothing much is predetermined, and nothing is where there is choice involved.

This is more of what I mean."Destiny is what you make of it." I'm making my destiny for myself.

    Basically speaking, I hate surprises.

If you're just relating what you can to yourself, then why need numerology at all? Your now making a conscious decision based on adjectives present to make a judgement about yourself, right?

Also, I love surprises. Gifts are awesome when they're surprises, and surprise challenges force you to think quickly to solve the challenge.

Haha, trust me Zalgryth, the way I think is an odd and mysterious process that I don't even yet fully understand myself. I figure as long as I'm doing no harm to others (and not spending any money) I'm on the right track. :P

Yeah... I'm just wary of anything that even vaguely resembles fortune-telling. I don't believe for a moment that it is truly possible, and to me this makes numerology and many similar arts seem pretty much redundant, yanno?

Although, that said, I can see the appeal of attempting to predict the future. In a way, it makes us think that we have a greater level of control over it, if we "know" what is coming. But I think that our level of control over what happens to us, realistically, is determined more by commitment and careful choice-making than anything remotely mystical.

I actually think your name can have some effect on your thoughts and actions. My name Andrew means "strong, manly" and have known this since I was around 6 years old. Simply knowing that information might subconsciously affect us.

Also, the way your name sounds when it is spoken (syllables and accents) could possibly instill some thoughts or feelings simply upon hearing it.

Like Gracie, I don't believe in anything that claims to predict the future. When I think of numerology and astrology, I can't help but think of the Barnum Effect and the confirmation bias. It's fun to try a numerology soul surge number thing on PerC or to tell someone I am a 'Leo', if they ask, and listen to their extrapolations, but it doesn't mean much/anything. It's just entertaining, at times. I don't believe in destiny, future predictions, and so on. Psychics..how I love pulling their legs.
