Lightbulb Developing Se in INFJ's

I am an INFJ and spend most of my time daydreaming. It is difficult for me to attend to whats around me most of the time and i get lost in my thoughts.

I suppose it doesnt help that i have been very stressed recently.

Extraverted sensing is the weakest function of our temperament. Are there any suggestions on developing this feat? (Im 100% intuitive) I decided to post this thread to help other INFJ's aswell. :)

oh god how to be me, hmm...

I notice everything around me. A piece of fluff on someones shirt, a crumb on their cheek. How does one become more sensing? You have to pay attention to what's going on, catalog it and keep moving. You can't stop to think of way the pretty flower contrasts the grey clouds on a Spring day. Se doesn't have time for that! When I watch a movie and I notice an actor seems familiar I need to know who it is so I go on IMDB.

What else... when listening to a conversation, I like to set everything up in a linear way by asking questions or clarify what a person says.

So many things!

If you are 100% N, try becoming more T instead. N is a very nice thing to have and you wouldn't want to loose that. I'm 100% N as well, but I don't have this problem (outside of calculus class and biology). I'm very happy to be an NT.

The problem I have is I cant control when to daydream and think, and when to focus on the environement around me. I tend to think about random things (even at work!) and this REALLY is bad for my concentration!

I have read alot of books about INFJ folks. Alot of them mention that Es is useful in balancing out Introverted Intution, which dominates this type. I think this is true. If any type stays in "one place" for too long it causes problems.

Im interested in finding out what regular activites I can incorporate in my lifestyle (or leisure time) to develop Es "for balance"

Any ideas?

I would think that Se is not just about noticing physical items, but noticing physical patterns, distances, body language. When I'm riding with an ESTP in the car; the way they maneuver is like on autopilot, they know the dimensions of the car, the dimensions of the street and they just sit back and even start reading sometimes when driving.

Sports help me immensely in my naturally weak Se department. You have to tune in to your external environment when moving about that rapidly.

As kdm said similarly, do more activities that involve your senses instead of thought. Physical activities involve a flow that one should achieve with the environment for maximum performance. Try martial arts, or other sports where one needs to be aware of distances. Something that isn't read, or sitting, like you're doing now at your computer.
