I was looking at possible careers for my personality type (INFJ) and it said I should be a clergyman....that is the LAST thing I would ever want to be, in fact I am so anti-religious it almost seemed like an insult. Does anyone else feel this way?

Personality type's don't define who you are or what you should be.
I'm not particularly religious; agnostic, if not a little spiritual. Clergy is listed as a possible career choice due to an INFJ's profound convictions and "third eye" into human behavior and decision processes, which would be useful for guiding their flock. It sure a hell doesn't suit me, but I can see how it would be appealing to a person with strong religious convictions.

yeah I suppose you are right! I am an atheist and never felt the call of the supernatural, perhaps I am too much of a skeptic to hold religious convictions.
Funny. Back when I was a fundamentalist Christian, one of the things I really wanted to do was be a youth minister. Now that I am nonreligious, my old youth pastor offered me a chance to work up to that position if I wanted to. Irony is cruel sometimes, haha.
well at least for us INFJ's, technically... we would be good at it because we are the dream interpreters...
the weavers of stories.
and the bible being a popular one we can kind of get the picture better than most, and really jesus, buddah, whoever you want to call a prophet... they are all around us.
today still.
I like new and emerging art, religion, ideas, just anything and everything that I am "drawn" to.
it doesn't have to be religious, it just has to be beautiful.
religious has a connotation to it these days that goes something along the lines with "only this above all else."
when in reality a truth is that there will always be multiple stories that reach a deeper spiritual place within our souls.
we should not reject new ideas, nor banish the old ones, we should simply embrace what we love and what we want to love.
I think that that is the divine thing about life.
that we can share with each other.
creativity is such a beautiful gift.
I am all metaphysical tonight. just bought and am listening to an amazing album.
Like I said in a old thread on here, which is relatively new since I just joined this forum last month...
Become yourself and whether there is a God or not won't matter. Know thy self, as they say.![]()
