    troublesome empathy

like when i am eating a bunch of anchovies (common dish in korea)
i feel sorry for them because they are such delicate creatures and have gone through all the trouble to become a dish and all that.. i become curious about their personal lives and so on .. karma and so on and so on..

and this sort of unnecessary expansion of empathy or fear...

could it be an INFJ thing?

I can relate to that sentiment, I try not to think about it but when I do I can have empathy for lots of things I eat, including plants. This was part of the reason I became a vegetarian but once I extended it to plants, I knew I was in trouble so I guess I try not to think about it just because I need to eat.

I don't do this but I know an INFP who cried once when making an egg.

I do believe this is actually sympathy.. Empathy requires being able to feel the emotions of someone else and pitting yourself in their place.. What do we know of being a fish and how can we relate?

Empathy and Sympathy are relationships based on shared emotions and understanding. Empathy is understood as the ability to mutually experience the thoughts, emotions, and direct experience of others without them being directly communicated intentionally.
Sympathy is a feeling of care and understanding for suffering beings.
Both have similar usage but differ in their emotional meaning.
According to these definitions.. Fe is related to Sympathy and Fi to empathy.

If it's type related, I would stick it to the F-dom corner. But I think it's not. Also, no, I don't experience such stuff while eating. Watching live animals suffer though is a different thing. Saw two swans cross the road today (heavens, if ducks are slow walkers, swans are tards), luckily all cars stopped. I get slightly queasy by the thought of what might have happened if the cars didn't stop.

And technically, yeah I think the correct term is sympathy.
