Near is very decisive and did some things that could have turned out really bad if he'd been wrong (like what he did to catch Kira, or when he wrote Takada's name in the deathnote at the same time as he thought Kira would to prevent her from being killed... he did screw that one up). No, Near was the best planner. I can't see him as a P.

And how is L sensing XD
You're being narrow-minded and only considering the letters (I, E, P, J, etc) involved in typing, not the underlying fundamentals that govern these letters. Light was the best planner by far. It is entirely possible for a P to be an excellent planner, you know.

Please stop judging these characters relative to other characters in the series. Near was decisive, sure, but that's from his confidence and the speed of his processing. His plans were formulated on the basis of his comprehension and were imperative for success.

Are you suggesting that if an incredibly intelligent P was in Near's position, they would be incapable of planning a plan when it's required for victory without becoming a J?

L's planning may have been inferior to Near's, but does this equate to P opposed to J? Quality of planning determines whether one is J or P?!

Also, please do not think that the ISTP is a 'sensor'. Dominantly, an ISTP is a thinker, and L's motivations that supported his thinking were all related to a sensual process (it's all a mere game to him for amusement).

Wrong, the deathnote characters were one of the first that came into my mind to type after I discovered MBTI. And, no, Light was not a better planner than near. He was overconfident for the most part (well this only applies to the second season really). And no, I'm thinking about the entire INTJ vs. INTP profile when doing this (including cognitive, or rather being connected to them) and also about Tsugumi Ohba and the probable extent to which he projected when creating the characters. Anyway, don't assume people are narrow-minded just becuase they don't state every obvious thing.

The confidence comes from J... or from Te (same thing in this case.) Their are subtle indications of Whether Te or Ne is being using. I'm really not going to walk you through all of them, but Ne=childish adult. Te= Adult-like Child (this difference is usually more subtle). However, becuase INTJs and INTPs are similiar cognitively with their extroverted functions (look at a mental map diagram) cognitive functions are not always a good way to distinguish these two.

comparing them relatively? How about you stop accusing me of making logical errors just becuase I'm not pointing out every step along the way. I even pointed out that some people make this very error in my first post under L. It doesn't have anything to do with his confince VS. L. In fact, I believe all 3 of the main characters are INTJs. This is a very INTJ series: INTJ Information Typing Fictional Characters

You're presenting arguments against what I'm saying, yet I haven't seen you actually say anything to suggest that Near would be an INTP... and yes, a P can be a planner, but an N can also sense and an extrovert can aslo introvert and a thinker can also feel, so if we use your logic, Near could be an ESFP (or any other type).

Also, please do not think that the ISTP is a 'sensor'. Dominantly, an ISTP is a thinker, and L's motivations that supported his thinking were all related to a sensual process (it's all a mere game to him for amusement).
Amusement is the keyword here. Amusement=NT, Fun=SP. SPs tend to get exhilarated while NTs are calm and collective. and yes, the ISTP is a 'sensor', or at least they are if they are well-balanced, Se being the secondary function. Besides, L doesn't have the typical SP on-the-surface arrogance/anger. And his introversion... INXXS tend to be more introverted than ISXXs. And his mannerisms are very NT. I sit similarly to L... I have for years before I ever heard of deathnote. The way the L's thoughts spun round and round and hinted to other things... It's clearly Intution.

The approach suggested is very rigid, thus a limiting theory for possibilities. I also completely disagree with your shallow reasoning, but I do not have the time to discuss an abstraction which is difficult to corroborate via mere reasoning.
