Stargate Characters (Easy One)

Hey everyone! I don't know how many people watch Stargate, but I'm hoping it's a lot. The characters in this show seem to fit the temperaments so well that I wonder if the creators had them in mind when they created the show.

First off, due to my biases, I will start with Daniel Jackson (Micheal Shanks). He, in my opinion is a clear example of a NF variant. I'm not sure what exact personality type but I'm going to say XNFJ because he has an extroverted feeling function and an introverted intuition. I don't however know which one is dominant.

Now, as for Jack O'neill (Richard Dean Anderson). He seems a little easier to type exactly. He is definitively, in my mind, an SP variant. And more specifically an ISTP because he seems to be very logical, dominant Ti (Samantha Carter: "He is smarter than he pretends"), and also seems to have an extroverted sensing and feeling (when he has them).

Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) is the NT variant. She is also hard to type specifically because she seems to have both an extroverted thinking and feeling, depending on the writer, which I think we all know that it is contradictory to have two extroverted decision making functions. She does most often seem to me to be either an INTJ or ENTP.

And Teal'c (Christopher Judge), you can't really say much about Teal'c. He is an amazing character, which is fitting because he is a text book example of an amazing personality type, the ISTJ. He is stoic and solitary. He has a clear extroverted thinking, and a less brought up (therefore underdeveloped) extroverted intuition. He explains things very clearly and concisely which suggests a very well developed sensing function, in combination with the extroverted thinking. (Season four, episode 6 "Window of Opportunity" O'neill says: "We seem to be in a time loop of some kind, but me and Teal'c seem to be the only ones who remember it, tell 'em Teal'c", Teal'c says "O'neill is correct, events do appear to be repeating themselves")

That's my take, and don't misunderstand the topic of the thread isn't confined to just these four characters.

Hmmm.... Interesting to note that from the OP's post, we have a representative of each temperament (NF - Idealist - Daniel; SP - Artisan - O'Neill; NT - Rational - Carter; SJ - Guardian - Teal'c). I would agree with you on Carter and Teal'c being NT and SJ, respectively; they certainly fit the type.

Also, I agree with Daniel as NF, as he is certainly iNtuitive-heavy and is the compassionate character of the team. However, I think that he's Introverted, but I'm not sure if he is a J or P. It's hard to tell, and as I am not that well acquainted with the seemingly subtle differences between INFP and INFJ, I will defer to your analysis of xNFJ and simply clarify the x to be I. Although, he did show significant character development and changes from Season 1 to 10, so I guess it depends on which Daniel we're talking about.

As for Jack, initially, I would put him in NT as he seems pretty rational... however, upon further reflection, I do think he is an SP, with T to make him the tough-minded guy he is. Despite leading the team, I can also agree with the I, as he does withdraw and doesn't seem that gregarious. In that same way, Teal'c is definitely an Introverted and Thinking SJ, so I agree with your assessment as well.

Back to Carter. From my recollection, she seemed more J than P and more I than E, so I'm going with INTJ.

To recap:

Jack O'Neill: ISTP
Sam Carter: INTP
Daniel Jackson: INFJ
Teal'c: ISTJ

Interesting: all Introverts, one F, but a J-P and N-S balance.

What do you think of these?

Dr. Fraiser - INFP
Gen. Hammod - ISFJ
Gen. Landry - ENTJ
Nox - INTP
Tok'ra - INTJ
Asgard - INTJ
Ancients (98% of them) - INTJ

I think I picked up a pattern for higher-level alien species... hahaha

How about from Atlantis? John Sheppard? Teila? Dr Weir, Ronon, Woolsey, Carlson, Aiden, Jennifer?

I guess for Stargate Universe, it might be too early to really say.

Yes, I am a huge Stargate fan!! Own all of the seasons too! I am not really liking the new series though...anyway, I actually had a thread like this in INTJ forum, but not a lot of people responded :(

My ideas are:
Daniel Jackson: INFJ
O'Neil...IStP
Teal'c: INTj
Carter: eNTJ

Sheppard: ESTP
Mckay: ENTJ
Teyla: INFP (she is hard to type)
Ronon: ISTP

Rewatching the show --

Jack - ISTP
Sam - INTX -- I lean INTP because she's pretty laid back, but she's also driven, so sometimes she looks INTJ
Teal'c - ISTJ
Daniel - INFP
Vala - ESTP
Cameron - ESTJ. At fist, I thought ENTP, but he barely shows any emotion EVER and is brutally logical - Te-Fi.

Atlantis (watched not long ago, but I need to rewatch for a few characters) -
Rodney - XNTJ. The fact that he is such a chatterbox / so quick to act with Se makes me think ENTJ.
John Sheppard - ISTP
Teyla - ISFX... kind of think ISFP because while she adopts other civilizations, she seems to have Fi-moral standards.
Elizabeth - ISXJ. Initially thought Fe, now I'm less sure.
Ronan - ISTP

Oooh I love SG too! Ok SO I agree,
Oniell is XSTP(or J....He likes to go according to plan)
I think Sam is INTP, or ENTP, same as Rodney. I'm ENTP and I am really like Rodney, do better under pressure. And when Sam is fascinated by something, she won't stop. Also they both love to start projects, just like me.
Teyla is Def a feeler.
Ok so far that's my input, I'm still learning all this.
