Default Stuck at typing a very good friend.....

Yeah, this is another of these threads. Sorry if it's annoying......
But I have really been thinking about that for a while, and I just can't figure out
her type.....

I met her in uni, and we immediately connected. I had the feeling of having me a soulmate.

- She can appear a little arrogant if you don't know her, but I think this is due to some social insecurity
- She is the most intelligent person I know. Really really creative, comes up with a lot of ideas, really future-oriented and connecting things all the time
- If you talk with her about your problems, she is always looking for some good implications....this is a wonderful gift, I think. she is so creative with finding good implications (I thought this must be Ni....)
- She is really good in abstract thinking. She has studies dramatics and english, and her papers were always highly theoretical and innovative; connecting a lot of ideas
- She likes to plan things in advance
- She enjoys things that are funny in a "strange" way....don't know how to explain this..... e.g. the British comedy "The Mighty Boosh" might be a good example of her kind of humour
- She is pretty talkative, if she knows you she talks about her problems etc. freely without waiting for the other person to ask much
- She can be very enthusiastic. I'd say she is very passionate about everything, positively or negatively
- She is really a perfectionist
- In general, she seems to be a very balanced person. However, she can also "explode" and have a temper...especially when her basic mood is not the best.....
- She is really indecisive. She explained her reasons: She wants to get the best of life in every moment, to make the best decision....I mean...that's probably what everyone thinks who is indecisive :)....
- she has only a few close friends
- recently she has started things like enjoying cooking, knitting etc :)....
- she's really into pets..... recently into micropigs :)
- she is not very traditional, and very liberal in her values, e.g. concerning homosexual marriage, and tolerance is an important value she would want to pass on to her children (hypothetically)
- when meeting her with my bf, she was really trying to initiate much of the conversation, to make everyone comfortable

ah, can't think of anything else at the moment..... the thing is, I actually was sure that she is an INFJ like myself....but...maybe this was just because I thought we get along so well.......then I thought she could be any other NF, but recently I have come to think that she could easily be an INTJ........

what do you think?

From your description, she sounds like an ENxJ to me, perhaps an F. She certainly does seem balanced, so it's a bit difficult to tell.

I was also considering that she is an E..... even though I always thought I fits better because she is really self-reflexive and all, but then, E does not mean non-self-reflexive........ somehow I can't really see ENTJ, but maybe just because I have another ENTJ friend who is SOOO different... I don't know.... she actually didn't want to do the test, argh....

I think that Grey is on the right track, but I'm going to suggest ENFP, perhaps with strong IS tendencies.

Initially you mentioned that she might have some social insecurities, which could manifest itself as something of an introverted feature in some instances, while then going on to say that she tries to initiate conversations in close groups. This to me suggests that she's comfortable enough to open up with her friends, but not as extroverted socially as a stereotypical extrovert, making her harder to judge overall. Still, I think that she likely has E tendencies with perhaps some environmental factors influencing the way she behaves with strangers, resulting in a little introversion now and then.

An NF base would also help to explain how the extroverted tendencies manifest themselves, although I felt there was little evidence with which to judge either N or S traits. As you know her, you might consider her base yourself and see if she is more Sensing or iNtuitive.

I see her "balance" in conjunction with her "temper" as more of a P trait in that it sounds to me that there is less J potential which might control irrational moods and exploding tempers. That said I could be reading it wrong and that the J tendencies keeps her mood in check until she does explode, however you also mentioned she might have trouble making decisions, but when she does, she is compelled to complete them. This to me is more of a Perceiving characteristic. Perhaps she becomes overwhelmed with possibilities and it stalls her. I see creative people as more of a Perceiving type and the fact that she"likes to plan things in advance" may also lend credibility to my opinion that she's a P.

I hope this at least provides some insight, even if I'm wrong. =)

Thanx for your reply..... aaaah, I'm swaying again :).... but the thing is, my initial idea of typing her, inspite of my INFJ-soulmate-feeling, was ENFP....due to her creativity, and somehow....I believed P.
maybe I was stereotyping way too much in thinking, nooo, she's much to organized to be a P.....
I'm really thinking about ENFP now..... I don't think that she is an S, it's really hard to explain, it's just a stupid feeling, which probably isn't valid for you as an INTJ :)....

Yeah, ENFP is my guess, I just wanted to underscore my thought that she likely has some other tendencies which my exhibit themselves more easily in some situations (such as artistic undertakings).

An no, gut instincts are always something to be taken into consideration. ;D I know that often times my subconscious knows more than I do. =S

sounds like an infp. fe dom types tend to be insecure when it comes to sharing things close to themselves.

having only a few close friends = introversion.

the moodiness and the interest in drama/literature point to F.

I just wanted to report that I asked her to do this test http://kisa.ca/personality/
....and her results were:

Ta-dah, your personality type is INTJ!
Introverted (I) 79% Extraverted (E) 21%
Intuitive (N) 77% Sensing (S) 23%
Thinking (T) 50% Feeling (F) 50%
Judging (J) 64% Perceiving (P) 36%

But she also said that on another day she might have answered differently, and that there were only 2 questions which she could have answered immediately without too much thinking.....
mh.....what do you think? I am now stuck between INFJ and INTJ, even though I do see the possibility that she might be an INFP or INTP....I am rather confident about the IN-part by now.....
