Ok so my buddy and I have been discussing Kurt Vonnegut (cuz she's obsessed) and she believes him to be an ENFP.

I can't give an opinion because I don't know much about the guy.

She is basing her classification upon Vonnegut's early life as described in his biography by Charles J Shields.

    Thoughts?

I always thought so too for ENFP (Ne dominant)...I'm not sure why exactly, other than he seems witty, but places a great premium on some kind of moral of story and such in his work (aux. Fi).

Some type of NF. I don't know enough about him to know for certain which. Though I also lean towards ENFP or INFJ. Seems like his ordering is N-F-T-S...

Many peopel Mistype ENFP's as ENTP or other types .
ENFP always gets overlooked in mbti typing.
@WSidis are you sure he is Fe aux?
Kurt is by far more of a Ne user rather than Ni based on the varied topics of his books.
Also the in his books, people are always central in the stories.
    .
Out of the little I know about Kurt, I would say he is most likely a ENFP rather than ENTP that everybody types him as.

I don't know enough to be sure. I think he is N-F-T-S. I lean towards ENFP, since I lean towards Ne.

I think the problem is that Ne is such a thinking function that people can confuse it for Ti. Of course, he's also a science fiction writer which people just naturally correlate with thinking. I've always assumed he was an ENTP, but the more I dissect him, the more it becomes clear that ENFP is more likely. My favorite novel of his, The Sirens of Titan, has probably the most revealing quote:

"A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved."

And going even further, I'd add:

"I think that novels that leave out technology misrepresent life as badly as Victorians misrepresented life by leaving out sex."

I don't think Ti would find it necessary to have machines unless the story called for it, whereas for him it's a requirement. It's a very Fi trait.
