I'd ask my maternal grandmother why my maternal grandfather was such a drunk, asshole.
I'd ask my maternal grandfather why he was such a drunk, asshole who threatened to kill my mother all the time. He gave up possibly olympic swimming for alcohol abuse and general assholery.

I'd ask my paternal grandmother why she was so adamant at staying in her old ass apartment when she could barely walk or get up out of her uncomfortable, broken chair.
I'd ask my paternal grandfather how he raised my dad.

They're all dead though. RIP..except my maternal grandfather. Rot in your casket, shithead. :\

You know, I've never seriously thought about hippies. Television has plagued much of what they stood for. It's to a point I'm not totally sure of what they stood for myself. I think it's always an extraordinary thing when the masses come together to change something. The hippies embodied a notable movement, so I would ask them to try it again. Although, I'm unsure of what my grandparents were doing at the time. My parents are baby boomers, after all. My grandparents were a generation before them. I only wish I knew them better before they all passed. To think I'm only 21 with no grandparents.

I'd ask everything that I could in the time allotted. Most importantly: life lessons (with corroborating evidence) and stories. I know, stories are a weird thing to ask for. Usually we spend all our time avoiding those boring tales our parents and grandparents tell.

Not me, though. I enjoy them. I get to look inside a mind much older than mine without them necessarily having to say, "here, take a look."

I would ask for old stories and for a a family tree. Knowing where you came from and how is pretty cool
